medium or medium/heavy, and i wasn't planning on salt water fishing. im kinda new to all the details of reels but i want one that i could use up to 15 lbs test line

I use Quantum reels and if you can step up to at least the Incyte or if you can one of the PT models and you will be better off. I don't have any experience with the reel you are asking about but 15# line unless it's Braid will give you lots of memory even in the 40 size reel. You can try the Flea Market or ebay and step up to a nice used reel or even a new one at a good price. Just got a Quantum Kinetic BC reel NIB for $55 off Ebay.

Look at the Pflueger President 6730x (59.99) and leave that cheaper crap alone.

Treat yourself and spend 90$ on a Shimano Caenen. You will be happy you did.

If you're going to fish 15lb test on a spinning reel I'd be fishing braid for sure. 15lb mono or floro are going to be a PITA to fish with on spinning gear. The Pfluger President or a Shimano Sedona or if you look a little bit a Shimano Sahara are all good reels in that price range.

If your looking for a spinning reel, then a shimano sahara is a great reel. I have a phluger president from about 5 years ago and it still works like a champ when I use it.

get a pflueger president for $60. use 8lb trilene xl and you'll be fine for most applications. or get yo-zuri hybrid ultra-soft in 6lb (almost 11lb break point) and use some KVD line conditioner and you'll be good to go ;)

In that price range Pfleuger is the best bang for your buck IMO. The President is a great reel at $60, but I also have a Trion (MSRP $40) and there is very little difference. I have owned both and have been extremely happy with the performance, durability and value.

As far as the 15# test goes, I wouldn't recommend it on a spinning reel in any of the sizes normally used for bass fishing. If you feel that you absolutely need 15#+ line go with braid. Although the initial investment may be a little higher, you will be able to use it for an entire season maybe 2-3+. I prefer Sufix Performance Braid or Sufix 832 but PowerPro should be fine and is available everywhere. Braid also practically eliminates any of the line management issues you see in spinning reels (particularly with higher lb test line).

Look at the Pflueger President 6730x (59.99) and leave that cheaper crap alone.

i love my president, great reel. 10 bearings and smooth as can be vs the shimanos and quantums that will have about 4-6 bearings. go pflueger you will not be disappointed.

I believe that is probably last year's model. I picked one up because it is a steal at that price! So far I don't have any complaints.
