I tend to stay away from ponds with snot grass. I can't stand getting my line and reels all gunked up with it. Though when I did fish those ponds, a fluke and topwater required the least maintenance.

I'll answer.... I only t-rig around docks or submerged wood. Otherwise, nose hooked on a wacky hook. If the weeds are so bad, you can't get through, I use something else.

I T-rig it, and skin hook it on the back side. That may be why I don't get very a long life out of each bait, but it sure does add to my hook up ratio. A while back I had a post on here about fishing flukes and having an almost zero hook up percentage, since skin hooking on the back side, my hook up rates have sky rocketed.

My favorite lure to use around algae is the eeliminator. You can crawl it over the mats and then dance it through the open pockets. I fish it weightless on a 4/0 hook. It stays pretty clean

If the pond doesn't get too deep I'd throw a trick worm on top of that crap. Those bass will come up through there and slam it if you make enough commotion. It's also good to throw and just let it sink in the holes where the "snot" isn't present.

I tried something a bit different last year, a Rage Craw on 4/0 or 5/0 EGW fished weightless.

Gives them something besides the usual trick, ribbontail etc to look at.

Yeah, it's filamentous green algae, nasty stuff. A drop shot rig will keep your bait out of the stuff.

Spyro Gyro was from my home town, Franco, killer group.

If we're all taking about the same snot grass its indicative of healthy water. It is hard to fish though.
