When to use a jig-n-pig?

Featured Replies

I have a few jigs with some Zoom trailers for them. Would I be able to use them in a pond that doesn't have any cover? If not where would I use them?

jig n pig is the trailer u use being pig=pork the excel in colder water around deep structure buuuuuttt u can use um anytime of year these can be used in open water but mainly for cover fishing .deep is a relative term used in any body of water deep can be 10 foot or 50 foot

Fish eat jigs year around as others have mentioned...Cold water slow your fall, retrieve and/or jig movement. As the water warms you can fish'em a little quicker. Style of trailer is debatable thruout the year but I believe that an active trailer is good year around as well, just in the winter when the fish are much more sluggish, you have to give the fish time to get to the jig.

I use a jig wherever there is water and bass.

Check the crawfish colors in your area and match them.

Fish your jig like a worm.

You can also "swim" it through the water.

Make it look like a crawfish so use our rod tip to mimic a mudbug on the bottom.

You need the trailer for the "claws" of the crawfish.

Fish them all year, especially in Louisiana.  :o

I prefer jigs for heavy wood or rip rap cover.

I always have a jig tied on.  I will flip mine near fallen trees and brush.  I love to flip it into grass as well.  Find open pockets and lay it in there quietly.  I personally use NetBait Paca Chunks for my trailers.  And dont be afraid to use a different color trailer than your jig from time to time.  I highly recommend using braid for this set up as you usually are in some nasty stuff.  I have caught fish in open water too with jigs.

Everyday....all the time....any water temperature or color...every lake. I LIKE A JIG.

I use a jig wherever there is water and bass.

Truer words have never....................well, you know the rest!!!  :o
