Just curious what Bass Resource members think what team will win the finals and in how many games.

I only really start watching NBA ball in the post season. I have been a Heat fan since the Rony Seikaly years and I am glad to see that they made it to the finals despite the naysayers. The critics said the Big Three would never play as a unit, the bench is not deep enough to beat the Celtics or the Bulls, Udonis is washed up, Lebron couldn't play well with others, etc. Nevertheless, I think it will be a very tough match-up. Dirk is playing some epic basketball now and will be tough to stop, but so is Lebron and Bosh, Wade has been in a shooting slump, but tends to shine when it matters. Nevertheless, I am picking the Heat in 7. Should be some be a great series to watch!

Heat in 6.

I've said what I needed to in the other thread that popped up. :)

Accidentally clicked 5 in the poll...

Heat in 7.

It is going to be a battle. The Mav's have a tough team.

I have some concerns about Wade. He has not been himself in the last few games.

It actually might come down to bench performances, I think the Heat has the advantage.

Ahh, the memories of the days of Alan Ogg and Rory Sparrow.

Heat has the advantage when it comes to the bench performance? Not true at all.

Their only decent player off the bench is Haslam and he has only played twice in the playoffs this year.

The Mavs have Terry, Barea, and Stojakovic. They could all be starters on other teams.

The Mavs bench is far better than the Heat bench, but the same can't be said for the starting five.

The Heat do have a better starting five, but they will still have trouble against the Mavs.

Wade isn't playing well right now and who will guard Nowitzki? Bosh? He can't do it IMO.

The Heat have their hands full with Nowitzki, but the Mavs have their hands full with Lebron. Should be a great series.

I disagree with you assessment of bench strength in the playoffs. They have been playing well as of late.

Ohio each time I see your posts about basketball I laugh (don't mean to offend you in any way).

You're name is Ohio, from Ohio, and you've got a big Celtics logo right below you're name. What are the odds that you hate the Heat. :D

The Heat in 5 ;)

The Bulls really only had one threat Rose and the Mavs really only have one threat Dirk…the Heat’s defense will prevail.

I live in Ohio, I'm not from here, so I don't have any allegiance to the Cavs.

It's not like the Heat are huge rivals of the Celtics either, they just knocked them out this year.

My dislike towards the Heat is because of their coach and "Big Three".

Catt you need to spend some time off the water for a little bit.

The Mavs have three guys right now who are in the top ten all time in three pointers.

Jason Terry has always been a good scorer just streaky some times.

Jason Kidd is one of the best point guards all time and is the smartest basketball player in the game.

Have you looked at JJ Bareas numbers ( or his girl friend  ) both are amazing. :D

Add that to Dirk and you get a great team.

This is a Star Studded finals with Hall Fame guys on both sides of the floor.

I researched the web to get some more insight to the match up from the pundits.

It looks like it come down to the following:

1.Can Haslem endure increased playing time to cover Nowitzki? He neutralized him in 2006. I think he will need some help but he will do the job. Nowitzki will do well, but not dominate.

2.Can Chandler defend without fouling? Only the refs know for sure.

3.Will the Mav's bench be able to compete with the heats starting five who will play extended minutes? The Mav's bench will not be a good match up against James, Wade, and Bosh.

4.Can the Mav's handle the Heat's athleticism? Who will control the boards? Can the Mav's minimize their turnovers?

5. Will the Mav's be shooting lights out 3's in every game? They depend on the outside shooting to score. It can run hot and cold.

6.Will Wade continue to struggle or will he find his shot? I think it is unlikely that Wade will struggle.

7.Home advantage? It will help the Heat. No question.

This series will be a classic IMHO. Both teams are deserving to wear the crown. This will be the Mav's best shot at winning the title, but I think the Heat finds a way and wins it in 7 games.

1. Haslem has already said that he won't be able to guard Dirk like he did in 06. Dirk is playing at a level that not even Lebron has reached yet.

2.Don't forget we have two starting centers to the Heats 0

3.The Heats starting five can't play the whole game and there bench is not half as good as the Dallas bench

4.We have some athletes of are own,Mavs don't need to control the boards to win as we have already seen, but the Heat have no center so who is going to rebound? Mavs have not had a turn over problem in the playoffs instead we make the other team have them. Oh did I mention that Dirk, Kidd, and Chandler are all rebounding experts.

5. Looking at who our shooters are I would say the numbers are in our favor

6. Wade had 2 points in 30 minutes when Stevenson played him during the season.

7. 1 game takes that away.

If there is one team built to beat the Heat it is the Mavs. Its going to be a great series but the Mavs got it in 6

Looking forward to a very entertaining series.

May the best team win and hopefully the refs will not be a factor!

Many used the same though process for the Heat vs. Bulls & we know how that worked ;)

Jason Terry, streaky at best

Jason Kidd, can he even score anymore

Peja Stojakovic, easily rattled ask New Orleans

Do I even have to list Miami’s roster?

I'll try to list Miami's "Amazing" roster.

Lebron best player in the league. No doubt about that.

Wade. Playing the worst ball of the year right now and looks like he could be hurt.

Bosh. Very streaky. Last series he did have two 30 point games, but he also had two pretty bad games.

As for Jason Terry being streaky at best, he is the best bench player in the league right now besides Odom maybe.

Jason Kidd doesn't need to score with the vision he has, but he can still drain threes.

I agree with you on Stojakovic, but he is able to play really well. Ask Los Angeles.

Not saying Dallas is going to win, but don't count them out just yet.

I really don't care for either team, but as SoFlaBassAddict has stated I find it funny how all season Espn, and other sports analysts have doubted the Heat. They are too young of a team, they aren't going to be able to play as a team, they are going to get knocked out by _______, It's going to take time before they win a Champ. ect. So after all this I really wouldn't mind seeing them put it all together. Heat in 5
