So far at a local beach me and my dad have been slaying them on Chartreuse Shad colored Red Eye Shads. The only problem is this place is infested with hydrilla. A place most people would only dare to throw something weedless. We get a bunch of fish, but taking grass off your crank get's old real quick. What type of cranks best go through cover, more specifically thick weeds? Im thinking something with less Wobble and more of a tight wiggle? Also, should I downsize my hooks? Thanks.

AS was mentioned, use a lighter version of the bait. Another option would be to increase line diameter or, if using fluoro, to change to monofilament line, due to its buyonacy. I personally would use a stiff rod and stock, not heavey hooks, so that I could rip the weeds off when they get snagged on the hooks. But if you're on a pattern, theres no point in changing. Hope this helps!

i would cut off one hook on each treble so your left with only 2 hooks riding upwards, works for me

I seen a fishing show with Jeff Kreit and Patrick Sebile and they were fishing heavy weeds. Kreit was using conventional weed baits while Sebile was throwing a flat shad snagless. At first Kreit refused to use it because he figured his hook up percentage would be terrible. Patrick was killing em with this setup and Kreit finally switched over. I see no reason why you couldn't make and liples crank weedless by removing the back treble and cutting off the downward hook on the front treble.

Remove the rear hook.
