I was down there Tuesday, flat calm water and bright sun was not a great combo but we caught plenty of fish. We had all 3 species of bass, white bass, walleye, and a flathead. Water was a little low and pretty clear. I was pretty surprised but most of our fish came on either a black trick worm on a shakeyhead or a 4" black/chart tail power worm. Couldn't get them to eat GP,watermelon, or pumpkin but they were on the black pretty good. Caught a couple on a shad colored square bill and one on a sammy early. My buddy had big fish with a 5lb 9oz largemouth off the dam right by the outlet in about 7' of water swimming a 3" gulp minnow trying to catch walleye, so it was pure luck and accidental but on a light action rod and 6lb test it was a pretty funny fight to watch. We caught our bigger smallmouth once it got hot flipping baby brush hogs under the docks on the boat ramps, just have to use good line because those docks tear it up with a fish on the other end. Had to flip it under the docks though, they wouldn't touch it along the edges. White bass were everywhere schooling in the middle chasing shad. Not what we went down there for but when they're blowing up on shad and destroying super spook JR's it's hard not to catch a few of them!

Did well a week ago tomorrow, had several big green fish and a full load of brownies. Caught more fish deep than shallow, there's a very good crank bite running for us this time of year. Most of our bigger fish came later in the morning, then we moved on to find some active brown fish.

caught A LOT of fish. had the best time with the old man. 6 species in all caught and a lot of nice smallies.

heres a start. dont be scared to get maybe 50 yards from the bank and run your baits under the bait balls. id targets the wind blown banks first.

I guess that just shows how good of a lake Melvern is. I fish almost none of the spots you marked and catch tons of fish. There must just really be that many fish in that lake. I know it's one of my favorites I just wish it was a little closer but I think the distance it is from the major cities is what helps keep it good. Skunked the smallie your dad has in that picture is a nice one and the main reason I keep making the trip down there!

Haven't been for a couple weeks but I would be fishing off mainlake points in probably at least 15 foot of water with a shakeyhead or dropshot. C-rigging might not be a bad option either. I've never tried night fishing out there but I think I'd seriously consider it if that is an option.

Fished Melvern Wednesday AM (5:30-8:30) only had 2 fish both on medium diving crankbaits but the wind was crazy and we were limited to where we could fish. Fished Thursday AM and did a little better ended up with 6 fish. 2 topwater 2 on cranks and 2 on a jig. Nothing amazing but I see the potential to catch fish there in non sauna conditions.
