New Daiwa T3 Baitcaster

Featured Replies

Has anyone seen this reel they are debuting at icast this week? It's definitely different but it catches my eye because it's the first reel I've seen in a while with a brand new concept behind it.

Here's a link to it.

It's a shame that they quit making the Sols, Fuegos, and Viento's. Those were solid reels at around the price point I like. Does anyone know why they did away with them? Now most of there reels are in the 100 dollar range or jump up to the 300 dollar and up range.

i have no idea why solid reels get put on the shelf. i watch ebay closely for Fuegos, you will steal one once in a while.

Perhaps no real need. But, this reel has the 3D braking system, which some are saying rivals Shimanos DC system, but at a more affordable price point. I am gonna get one, but because I want a new toy lol.

skunked, that sounds like my line-up. :D

6 Fuegos, 4 Alphas, 3 Zillions and a Viento.

I've been hoping an American version of the Z would show up, and it has. But at $650, I will not be trying one.

The T3 is also one I've been looking forward to. I might just have to pony up for one of those when they get here in the fall.

There have been many advances in materials in recent years, but innovation in design is rare. This reel seems to raise the bar a bit. When they get down in the $100 range I will be able to afford them... B)

Don´t know about you but that thing is really fugly, and then that pop up top of the reel .... reminds me about that split line guide in the computerized reel....

I love my Daiwas and I think Daiwa makes great products however I´m skeptical when Daiwa gets too innovative.

I haven't actually owned a Daiwa, but I did pick up a cabelas prodigy last winter when they were on clearance. It's made by Daiwa and shares thhe same braking system. After using the reel for a couple months I have to say I'm impressed. It definitely has me wanting to try a better Daiwa. Not anything over $250 though. $650 for a reel is a little out of my income bracket.

The Prodigy shares MUCH more than just the braking systenm....iut's basically a Tierra with different paint and a Cabela's sticker.

Fuegos are very under rated i think. i bought my father a yellow/black Pixy and i like it ok as well. i LOL'd when he strapped the thing to a Berkley Shock Rod..
