If you've been crushing 'em with what you're using, don't change anything. When they stop working, change. Sometimes I rig one rod with something different and switch off just for fun.

I’ve had success with traps in 5/8, 3/4, 1, 1 ½ ounce sizes ;)

You already know “if it aint broke don’t fix it” but let me add a little bit more to this.

The reason for you success with the ½ trap may well be its length & moving up in weight will change the length, I would stick with the ½ trap and change where you are throwing it.

Despite popular belief bigger baits does not necessarily mean bigger bass!

I've done really well with everything from the 1/8 tiny trap to 1oz magnum trap and spots, and we don't have giant bass around here but 1 pounds will still crush a big rattlebait. They are worth a try for sure.
