Baking Jig Heads

Featured Replies

HI GUYS, I WANT TO START MAKING MY OWN JIG HEADS, [sHAKIE] AND WANT TO KNOW HOW LONG DO I KEEP THEM IN AN OVEN BEFORE A POWDER COAT THEM, I KNOW THE TEMP. SHOULD BE AT 350%. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. THANKS 361 RANGER.

I heat my jigs with a heat gun first and then dip them in powder paint. Once I'm done with all of them, the rack(s) go in the oven. I bake @ 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

If you can heat them just to the point where the paint goes on and has a dull finish it will be a thin coat and not tend to run when you are baking them. I heat mine either with a propane torch or several at a time in a toaster oven if I am doing a bunch.

careful. some paints the temps vary. Most of them are 350 for 15-20 min. but some do vary. All manufacturers note this.
