New Reel

Featured Replies

hey everyone i picked up a new shimano callisto today for 34 bucks there was a mistake at the store they put the wrong price on it so i got is for 20 bucks cheaper, just wondering if any of you guys have this reel what you think of it, anything you wanna tell me this is my first low profile reel so just let me know what you think! thanks guys

You've already made your purchase so make the most of it regardless of our opinions. This is a lower end reel and probably wont last more than a season or two in which case you got your money's worth. My suggestion for the future is to post prior to making a purchase. With a budget range and idea what you want to do with the reel, you'll get lots of helpful suggestions.

They are a decent reel for the money but you will be doing pretty good if it lasts a season or two.

I bet with decent maintenance your reel will last longer than 2 seasons. I have some graphite body Bantam 101s still in service after 20 years of steelhead, trout, bass and walleye fishing. Drag washers, a few bearings and some lube over the years is all that has been needed. Your reel has a much larger line capacity than my 101s V spools have.
