South Florida Snakehead Roundup.

Featured Replies

Interesting reading... In VA the snakehead threat is/was quite overblown. They seem to have found their niche, and amazingly there are somehow still bass here after all the hysteria. In fact, not a single snakehead has crawled out of the water and feasted on infants in their cribs either... ;)

I find it remarkable that after the hysteria and misinformation in MD and VA that any still think the snakehead will absolutely decimate an entire region. In the snakehead's native countries, there are thousands of other species of fish (not to mention crustacean, amphibian etc) that have managed to survive despite this 'apex predator' gobbling them all up. Why would it be otherwise in FL?

It really is the old "SKY IS FALLING" theme by people. :dazed-7:

What canal was that you were fishing in that video?

To resurrect an old thread...

...I've started bass fishing last year, and did catch snakeheads too. I for one am glad they're here and refuse to kill them! Comparing to bass, they are in my opinion way more fun to fish for and catch! The top water action, the strikes, and the fight the fish puts up is simply incredible and second to none in fresh waters here in S.FL. Not that bass isn't fun to catch, but once you see a snakehead hit your topwater frog and almost drag you into the water as it's fighting, you'll too be hooked! Awesome game fish! And great tasting too ;-)

I for one refuse to kill them!...And great tasting too ;-)

Oh really

Oh really

what i mean is I refuse to kill them unless I plan on eating them :-) they don't bother me!

i wanna fish for snake head for no other reason than the aggresive blow ups and i get to hit em with a bat  :eyebrows:
