What Knot Do You Use For Tying On A Flouro Leader?

Featured Replies

I've been using a uni knot to tie the two together but the other night, they kept snapping. I've been tying that knot all summer and it wasn't holding for some reason. I was doing it outside, at night, and the weather had dropped down to the 50s, could that have done anything?

Albright knot

Do a search on this topic. There are hundreds of threads asking the same ???

As far as the temperature drop. Shouldn't have any effect. Are you using a different brand or spool of line than you had used all summer?

i use a double uni know

What amazed me about this knot when I first started using it is that I couldn't hear it going through the guides on the cast. That means no friction and longer casts.

I prefer the Alberto knot using 5 wraps up and 5 wraps down when joining fluoro to braid. When I used a double Uni knot I found that if I didn't severely tighten the knots until AFTER I had slid them together less line breakage would occur.

Ridiculously simple to tie.

Double Uni too hard for an old man like me.

Alberto here as well. I used to use the Albright and sometimes still tie it without thinking, both always worked equally well for me.

The albright special is insane. A lot better than the uni knot.

I have been using the Albright special for over a year. This is the best connecting knot I've tried so far. It casts great and is strong. Also the knot is a Lot more compact than uni to uni knot.

Is it just me, or have some of you found that some lines are stronger using a uni to uni, and some are stronger using the alberto?

The copoly I use is stronger with a uni to uni connection. I have used the Alberto for a couple years now, but find with my copoly

brand, the uni to uni stronger. Sorry if i hijacked the thread, the OP did say fluoro..

I have used both the Seaguar knot http://www.seaguar.com/seaguar-community/seaguar-knot.htm crazy easy to tie and great for adding a short 3-5' leader. And the Alberto for joining longer ones. Both have performed perfectly for me.
