What is ur favorite reel?
My favorite reel that I own is the Core 50mg. Can handle everything really well. Close second would be the chronarch 100D7. This reel just feels solid.

Your All Purpose Setup?
My go to combo is a Dobyn 743DX with a chronarch d7. I have 55lb samurai on with a leader of 14lb mono. This combo is good for moveing baits, and great for topwater and senko. This combo is with me on every trip. Definately does a lot of thing good and a few thing great.

What Knot Do You Use For Tying On A Flouro Leader?
I have been using the Albright special for over a year. This is the best connecting knot I've tried so far. It casts great and is strong. Also the knot is a Lot more compact than uni to uni knot.

Do You Use Only Baitcasters Or Spinning Or Both
I use both. Spinning for my finesse stuff. I only own 2 spinning combos. But One is always the boat.

Losing Big Fish
I would say that your probably not getting through the hard part of the mouth. Big fish have a really thick mouth and it takes some pressure to actually get it through the bone and tissue. I would say with six pound line it would be pretty hard to get it through that tissue. You probably had that fish skin hooked in the mouth and when it jumped and shook it's head it popped out. Nothing you can really do in that situation other than keep constant pressure and pray that it don't come off.

Does anyone actually LIKE, or dare I say LOVE winter fishing???
I enjoy fishing in the winter. You dont get as many bites but the ones you do get are often quality. This is the time where I break out the soft swimbaits and dedicate to really working them. Also I don't mind fishing in the rain. As long as your prepared for the weather gear wise you should be good. I dnot have the privelage to be choosy about the weather when I get a chance to get out. Plus I really like that there are only the most dedicated of fisherman out during bad weather. All the Panzies stay home.

Snag proof Phat Frog?
First started using snag proof bobby perfect frog. Then they switched production and the frogs had alot of issues. Mainly they didn't float anymore and the plastic was a little harder. Had to modify them to get them to work right. Then came the phat frog. Solved all the problems I had with bobbys perfect. Been throwing them every since with great success. The blue color is supposed to represent the blue dragon flies that are always right by the water surface.

All set for swimbaiting (or am I?)
Only advice that I would add is don't take any other rod or lures. I find that if I intend to go Hawg hunting leave every thing else at home. What happened when I started throwing the big baits that after a couple of hours chucking I would get discouraged. If I had other Set ups with me I would often put down the big bait and never pick it back up. Also you will get tempted to switch if your fishing partner is whacking them on something else. Put your head down and remember that your fishing for fish that not many others are. Once you start getting confidence start adding the swimbait into the rotation. I feel that I have become a better angler at other techniques due to what I have learned throwing the big stuff. Good luck on ur endeavor and keep us posted on how you do. 8-)

Question for Owners and Users of the Dobyns DX744C and DX784C ML
The 784 actually has a little faster tip than the 744. So if you were going to be throwing less than say a 1/2oz I would go the 744. I use the 784 for throwing football jigs and also c-rigs in deep water. The 744 is more an all around jig and t-rig rod. Jmo hope this helps in making your decision. Dobyns has pretty much taken over my rid arsenal. Out of the 18 rods I own 10 are dobyns.

When to break out the swimbaits??
I never have to break them out cause I don't put them away. Usually during the summer I will throw alot of slow sink and floaters. Then during the colder months when the trout are moving throughout the water column is when I will throw the big plastic swimbaits more. But there is defnatelt a swimbait bite all year long 8-).

Which do you think a bass prefers?
I think the crawdad is a higher protein meal for a bass and I personally think that if a bass had a choice they would eat a crawdad over a baitfish. But from my experience certain times of year they will key in more on bait fish. Also to add I read one response where someone said that there lake or pond didn't have crayfish and I'm almost 100% sure that crayfish are in all lakes and ponds across the u.s. Just cause you do not see the. Doesn't mean they are not there.

New Sufix 832 Superline
I really find it hard to believe that in the amount of years you have been fishing braid you have not snapped off on a cast. I mean I know I don't do it very often but it has happened more than maybe I'd like to admit. It doesn't take much weight either I casted off a Hollow belly frog with fifty lb power pro. I will tell you exactly how to do if you really want to know as well?

Reel seat issue on Dobyns...
I own 10 dobyns rods from all different models savvy to champion extremes and never had one reel seat issue. I hope that it was just a weird occurrence but if you keep having a problem dobyns customer service is some of the best in the industry. Give them a call and you will be able to talk to either Gary himself or his son Richard both are very knowledgable and passionate about helping out there customers. 8-)

Spinning Reels and Braid?
I love braid on my spinning reels. I use 20lb samurai with an 6 or 8lb leader. It greatly increases the performance and cuts down on line twists. Also you don't have to replace line very often. I respool maybe twice a year at the most. Just money go through leader material. Try it out, I think you'll really like it. 8-)
