Just wondering if anyone has experience with either the Shimano Sienna 2500FD or the Mitchell Avocet S2000 spinning reels

I will be using it for bass with small light finess baits (drop shot mostly) on a 7' Light action rod with 8lb mono

Any suggestions on which may be better? The reels are pretty similar as far as I am aware just wondering if anyone has had experience with either of the two.

I've been using a Mitchell S2000 for over a year now. Its not as nice as some spinning reels I've used, but it has kept going for all this time with no complaints, even after some serious abuse. I wouldn't hesitate getting another one.

For the way a Shimano casts I wouldn't even consider the other one. The Sienna has the same propulsion spool as the higher end Shimanos do, even the Stella. So that alone is worth it to me. The Symetre I have casts farther than any other spinning reel I've ever had, with the use of KVD spray with it though.

I'd drop down to 6# test and step my reel selection up a notch. Using the same rods, I get fairly equal distance between my stadics, sorons, supremes and cabo, doubt if there is any more than a couple of yards difference. I buy a reel for drag quality, construction, smoothness, not for casting distance.

I mostly considered cast distance in my comparisons because neither reel has a lot of other features going for it at all. Cast distance is probably the one thing I would consider that sets them apart. Otherwise, not much.

The avocet 2000 is a really nice reel. I had the AV2000 and it was 8.8 oz and I had over 6 years with no problem at all.
