Deep Largemouth Bass.

Featured Replies

What lures do you guys use to catch Largemouth Bass in 40 plus feet of water?

The only time I catch bass that deep is when I am droppshotting bridge pilings with a Reaction Innovations flirt worm or a Gene Larew Biffle-O.

The next "largemouth bass" I catch that's more than 40 ft deep, will be my first.

There's a critical distinction between "water depth" and "bass depth".

Though I've caught bass in water over 40 ft deep, the bass were not on the bottom.

I have never bassed that deep, but I think heavier drop shotting would be the way to go.

I fish a Texas Rig,and use the Doodling technique.I usually fish it vertically over humps, and points in depths from 20-100 ft depending on the time of year.Deepest fish I've ever caught was in 110 ft of water at Casitas in November. It's a killer technique, give it a try

I have three baits that I use the most in water deeper than 25': Drop Shot, Spoon, and a football jig.  I typically find fish below the 25' mark starting in the fall and on through to late winter.  I have caught bass up to 70' deep but that is the exception not the norm in my  part of the world.  The majority of the deep fish I catch during the colder months would be between 25' and 45'.  One of the keys to not having to fizz a bass is to bring them up slowly that way it allows their swim bladder to acclimate itself to the different pressures. I agree with oldschool that this is an awesome technique and one that definitely does not get much pressure.
