Well as most of u know I was deploying this month to Afghanistan. Rumor has been flying around that were not gonna go well that rumor came true I'm no longer deploying. They were talking bout maybe Kuwait but that looks like a no go as well. Part of me is glad because I get to stay home with my boys and wife not to mention I get to hunt all season now hopefully there's tags left. The other part of me is mad because I really needed to go financially and the benefits for me and the family would of helped a ton not to mention my bass boat is still a distant dream at this point. So as of right now were not going anywhere but we may in a few month but I doubt it.

Don't worry , the govt. will soon have a new front to send you to. :(

The wars are expensive in treasure and lives. I am glad you will be home to enjoy the holidays with your family.

Man a bassboat is nice but it's nothing compared to a family that's glad to have you at home.

Yeah I'm happy to be staying home I can go ice fishing and see my youngest jack crawl and walk which has me pretty happy. Everyones glad I'm not going besides the wife I mean she's glad but she had alot of plans and wanted to go back to school but she can't now not yet till I find a different job this teachers aide ain't cutting it. The only thing I'm numbed about is the experience really yeah the boat was gonna be a nice bonus but it's still not out of reach just gonna have to work hard and save up.

Has the thought of giving up the Nat'l Guard in favor of an active duty hitch crossed your mind yet? It sounds like you needed the better pay and benefits of a year's worth of full time service so why not stretch it out for a couple of years.

My gut feeling is that we are going to see a draw down on a lot of these major deployments and/or adventures into new conflicts. We only need to look at the recent success we've had with special forces operations or drone attacks to teach us that the current enemy is not going to be subdued with a more conventional boots on the ground policy.

I have thought of the active duty stint but rigt now it's not really the best for me or my family. If I was single I would do it in a heart beat. I was just needing that deployment to bump my gi bill mostly and i want to reclass to aviation mech but I was hoping for a deployment as grunt for the experience.

Stay home.

Be safe.

Be with your family.

I know the money is tempting.

Your first obligation is to your family.

Thank you for your service.

It is guys like you that make the USA a great place. :)
