costa 580 if money is no issue. I have the green mirror for offshore saltwater fishing, hoping to pick up some for bass fishing but unsure of which lense color to go with thinking grey or brown as I tend to fish alot in the spring/fall when shadows are long and days are short.

You can find a link to a buyer's guide on any sunglasses page on Cabela's site. Whatever you get, make sure they block 100% of both UVA and UVB.

Definately go with the Costa Del Mar 580 Glass lenses. I have a pair of the Permits with the Green Mirror 580 G lenses and looking in the water is superb! Unrivaled in terms of clarity also, and pretty light for being glass lenses. Make sure you try the frames on at BPS, Cabelas, etc. Each frame fits different, for different size heads, etc.

I use Oakley Polarized but I'm not sure of the model. I got them as a gift and am happy with them. Costa and Maui Jim make some nice lenses. I like all of the styles Oakley has if you don't want to use them just for fishing.

I have the Costa 580's but had to go with their plastic rather than glass due to the fact that I had readers in the lens (they don't make readers in glass...go figure). I wanted a tint that would work well on both clear and overcast days and the factory recommended the green mirror. I'm totally satisfied. Worth every penny.

I went to the Spfd. MO BPS on a sunny day and talked with "Katie the Costa Lady". I looked at all the brands and styles the had. Then we took some and went out into the parking lot and I tried all of them on. I wound up choosing the blue glass lens and headed on a road trip.

I could not see the gps on the windshield more than 10% of the time. When I returned home I went back to BPS and told them about it. They said pick another pair and suggested the 580P with amber lens. They are the only glasses of any kind that I have been able to put on and keep on all day long without a head or nose ache. I'd buy another pair in a heartbeat.

Any recommendations for sunglasses the fit over regular glasses? I have a good pair of clip-ons but they do nothing on the sides.

Thanks.

Cocoons, or go to your local eye doctor and get a prescription pair of Costas.

Can't beat the Costa 580 lense. If your rough on them go with the 580P. As far as frame goes that depends on the size of your head. I have the hammerhead frame cause I got a huge melon. The wide sides on them block out any sun coming from that angle.

Well at least they fit you they were too small for me :(

thank you everyone for your input i went to bps over the weekend and tried on a few different pairs of costas and ive decided to go with the tailfins in 580g with the green mirror lenses i also looked at oakleys but at the same price their not even polarized which i find to be a waste of money and the tailfins fit my face perfectly and i talked to the lady and she said the green mirror would be the best for the types of fishing i do

I've had two pairs of Costas with Amber Lenses (lost one a pair in the ocean) and another pair with 580 Green Mirrors. I absolutely love them.

Fitovers that's what I wear, same concept as cocoons. They really give you good wind protection preventing dry eyes from a day on the water when boating.

I'm having a really hard time finding glasses that fit over my RX glasses because the frames (measured across the earpieces which is the widest point) are 5 3/4" wide. Cocoons go up to 5.5" wide.

Fitovers Aviators look like they might work.

If you go on their website they recommend what will work with your dimensions. You can also print out each model full scale & try fitting your glasses on the template.

I have the cocoons in copper, amber, and yellow colors. They are very nicely made, and block out light very well, only light that comes in is from the bottom, but it doesn't bother me any. I would recommend the copper/amber colors for all-around usefulness. Also, don't forget to get the neoprene lanyard, in case you drop them in the water ;). As a matter of fact, depending on your glasses size, I have a pair of amber slim lines for sale if you're interested. I have upgraded to the aviators because I got new prescription glasses with wider frames.

I printed out the page and it appears the only style that would fit are the aviators. They are huge but should work. Got plenty of time now to actually look in stores and try some to make sure to find a pair that fit my BIG HEAD.

FL- Looks like I will have to go with the aviators also. Thanks for the offer. ;)

No problem, good luck with finding the right ones ;). I would highly recommend the copper ones. Only disadvantage to the wide aviators is that I have to wear my hat kind of high because the top frame rests on my forehead. Good solution for prescription glasses wearers though.
