Gonna See What The Rage Is All About!!!

Featured Replies

I just picked up my first package of Rage Tails. I got the Toads in the watermelon/pearl. I was very impressed with the weight of the baits, the fact they come in a clam pack, the bait saver tabs, and I liked the scent. I wasn't to happy 'bout the price, but I will have to see what they do. Most toads are a bit more expensive than othe baits. I also liked the fact that the toads came with riggin' instructions. Can't wait to hit the lake!!!!

My local Wal-Mart has them on sale for $3 man!     :D

They had about 22 packs when i went. Now, i have 22 packs of them, LOL!!!

As if the ammo thing isn't bad enough, along comes DW to carry it over into the fishing isle, too.  :)

You will not be disappointed, the toads are awesome baits.  I have caught more bass on the Rage Tail toads than any other bait that I own.

I love the RageTail toads.  By far my favorite soft plastic topwater bait.

I hopped on the rage toad band bandwagon.  I took a pack of rage's along with a pack of horny toads switching back and forth.  After 2 outings the number of strikes were about about the same.  Hooksets were far better on the rage's, didn't miss a one, but were chewed up quickly, the hornys much more durable but to few hooksets.

I gotta give the rage's the nod.

My only toad is the Rage toad. Do this, though. Rig it on a 5/0 or 6/0 light 1/16oz keel weight hook. Also, if you can find 1/16oz Twistlock Owners, those are the best. Enjoy, man, the bass kill this thing when you work it through the heavy pads and stuff, pausing to let it work it's way down into the holes.

My Wal-Mart never runs deals like that. But there is a Dick's Sporting Goods being built about 10 minutes away, I've heard of some great deals they have  :)

Anyways BJ, those toads are the best topwaters I've fished. The bass love them.

Just outta curiosity, how would ya'll fish these?? I'm thinkin' straight slow retrieve. Would that work??? I've fished Ribbits, Buzzfrogs, and Tommy Toads( or whatever those things are called) like this and done well. Is there a different retrieve that would work better for basss in clear water??? I like throwin' buzz frogs along lilly pads and twitching 'em on top of the lilly pads then buzzin' 'em off. Does this sound o-k??

I'm gonna (Hopefully) try them out tommorow. I have another question. How do these things cast. They feel Nice an heavey, but I don't know how they'll throw...... I'll be tossin' 'em on a 6'6'' Medium action rod with 30lb. Power Pro.

The toads are awesome(although i haven't caught a fish on them yet lol)! they push so much water. The anacondas are also a great bait

They cast great.

I don't know if there is a "wrong way" to fish them.  I've had fish take them on the drop, and take them while they are sitting on the bottom.

You can buzz 'em, or finesse 'em.  Fish 'em on top, along the bottom, and anywhere in between.

Steady retrieve, twitch and pause, or bump along the bottom.  They have produced fish for me in all of the above ways.

No doubt, the bass will prefer one over the others, and maybe prefer that presentation regularly.

Give them all a try, or any other way you can think of.  The bass will tell you which way is best on a given day.

I'm not ragin'......Tried 'em out yesterday, and they have a sweet action, and I did catch a bass on one, but I went through 3!!! The leggs kept rippin' :'( Twice, feet just came off.......... Not sure if it was me or not, but I am not sure if I'm gonna give the toads another try.  They seemed good and durable ( except the feetsies!!), and cast a mile on 10lb. mono. I don't know.........

Were the toads you bought packaged in a clear clam shell?   I am just curious because they would be older packs of baits.  I usually can catch a few fish per toad when I throw them.  How were you fishing them?  Were they getting hung up on structure?  I make sure that I purchase the ones that are packaged in the clear clam shells.

As for the shad, they work awesome.

Yeah, they were in a clam pack. I was steadily retrievin' them over pads and gunk, but they weren't hangin' up. I did have a couple "professional over-runs" so that might've caused it, but I don't know.......
