  1. I was relining my reel and my 5 month old skeet reese series rod got caught in the fan :'(. It broke the very tip section off 1/2 an inch above the next guide. I really need to know what size fuji tip-top guide to use so I can repair it. I give out the most sincere thanks to anyone who tries to help me. Some other information about the rod is that it is a 7'2 senko rod. 8-20lb rating with 10 guides + tip. I appreciate your help.
  2. Alright well i finally decided on the Boca PT 40 and I got it for $85. Cant wait to use it. SirSnookalot what do you think might be a good rod to use for multi-purpose stuff. My main three things will be throwing DOA's or MirroLure's, a popping cork rig, and bottom fishing with live bait. Im kinda leaning toward something 7ft(or longer) medium power, fast action. Dont want to go over $80 for the rod. Any advice guys?
  3. I also found a Boca for 109. This makes for an extremely tough decision. And i read that the boca has an insane 23lb drag
  4. Wow thanks for all the great responses. Now I have a real tough choice to make. Either get the Spheros for 100 or the Saros for 100. Hmmmmm decisions decisions. Thanks again. Ill be sure to let you know what I decided.
  5. I found the Saros for 100 dollars online. And that really caught my interest. I will also consider your advice on the larger size reel. I am merely going off of paper stats which mean little compared to real world experience but I think the 3000 and 4000 series have the same drag power - 15lbs. Has anyone here used the Shimano Saros and if so what were your results. Thanks again
  6. Well I understand that this is a bass fishing site, but i couldnt think of a better place to ask for advice on my next purchase. I am in the market for a good quality spinning reel that can stand up to the abuse of saltwater. I expect to catch redfish, black drum, flounder, trout and a variety of other inshore species. I live in NE Florida and all of my salt water fishing is done inshore. I know of course that a lot of the durability has to do with the maintenance that you do on the reel and how you treat it with fishing, and i am not a careless person nor am i a clean-freak person when im fishing. I mean its GOING to get saltwater on it no matter what you do. But I will oil and grease it regularly and do all of the necessary maintenance to keep it running properly. I do not want to go above $130. This is going to be a pretty much multi-tasking reel. I would like something rather light but with an aluminum frame. Im just looking for So far the reel I have been most interested in was the Shimano Saros 3000F. This reel interested me with its AR-B bearings, strong drag, and waterproof drag cap. Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated and thanks in advance for your help.
  7. I asked the exact same question merely days ago and what I ended up purchasing was the Cabelas Prodigy reel. It ended up being 70 shipped because of 10.94 shipping! :'(

  9. My best lure is a rebel crawfish. Caught this baby for me!
  10. Okay now my next step is the line and rod. For the line I think im going to go 30lb Power Pro and for the rod im thinking a 7' medium action shimano voltaeus.
  11. Well i took everything in consideration and bought the Cabelas Prodigy! ;D
  12. Thanks for the offer dmac14. I found a Quantum Accurist CX for 60 on ebay. What are your thoughts?
  13. Hello everybody! First of all I want to apologize if i become an annoyance for i have many inexperienced questions to ask you. Okay this is my situation. I am fairly new to bass fishing. I have fallen in love with it though and it has become an addiction of mine . I have two spinning reels which I use solely for freshwater purposes. I also have two "round" baitcasters which i use for inshore fishing. I love using my baitcasters but I am on the hunt for a low-profile baitcaster designated for my bass fishing. I will use it for throwing lures or the good ole carolina rig or texas rig. Some of my most used techniques are in order from most used to least: topwater plugs, spinnerbaits, texas rigged worm, crankbait, and topwater frogs. I want this reel for a multi-purpose setup as I am 15 and do not have enough money nor the transportation to have numerous rods and reels. Much of my stuff has been accumulated over summers of working hard everyday. I want to be able to throw stuff down to 1/4 oz. My price range has a maximum of $75 which is high for me as of right now and i will only do that if the item is on a particularly good sale. I have researched heavily and my options are slim. These are some of the reels i have inspected BPS* Daiwa Procaster Tounament http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_97968_100001001_100000000_100001000?cmCat=CROSSSELL_PRODUCT BPS Tourney Special http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10151_-1_10001_104116_100001001_100000000_100001000_100-1-1 Cabelas Prodigy http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20331&id=0053216122487a&navCount=1&podId=0053216&parentId=cat20331&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=9IS&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true Daiwa Strikeforce http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20331&id=0053216122487a&navCount=1&podId=0053216&parentId=cat20331&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=9IS&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true Cabelas Tournament ZX FS http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=MainCatcat20166-cat20331&id=0053216122487a&navCount=1&podId=0053216&parentId=cat20331&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=9IS&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat601233&hasJS=true I realize that this is an extremely long post and I apologize for that as well, but i greatly appreciate and information, opinions, or suggestions you guys may have! 15. I tend to fish lots of retention ponds with intentions of catch and release only. I know there are fish in there I pulled 2 6lbers out of a small one in a single afternoon. Im just wondering what your thoughts are
  16. I saw pictures of a guy using those and he had 5- 15+ fish! One even weighed 17lbs
  17. has anyone tried the rage tail shad yet? and if so how was your experience?
  18. Only thing I have learned about fishing in my area is to find a pond with minimal cover and early in the morning throw a topwater lure into a cooler spot on the pond. this has been repeatedly successful to me
  19. This is kinda off topic but I have a friend who has a pool that has turned green from lack of care and we stocked it with some bass and brim. We actually caught a bass out of it 5 months after putting the fish in
  20. I love braided line. I always went the cheapest way though with Spiderwire but i havent been dissapointed yet!
  21. I know this isnt a highly tested product yet but what about the shimano voltaeus
  22. I always catch grief from my dad for this habit but the best is just to stick with whats comfortable
  23. I have always had more trouble with the sun than the heat. but im sure it cant hurt to put it inside
