Hello,

I just purchased a butt seat for the front of my boat. Could anyone throw out a number (or numbers) for the approx. height that is best or the height they prefer to mount a butt seat.

I currently have a regular folding seat mounted with a 2-5/8 dia. X 14" pedestal but have purchased a butt seat and now would like to look for

a pedestal. If anyone has any suggestions for the best pedestal, I would appreciate it.

I searched the forums and most seem to prefer an adjustable 3/4" setup but no dimensions were stated.

I don't have access to the boat right now so I thought i would see what height others are using.

No way to tell you what height is best. You could be 5' 2" tall or 7' 2" tall. Even if two folks are the same height, they might prefer different pedestal heights. Why not get an adjustable as was suggested? It may cost a few more bucks, but you can adjust it to what is the perfect height for you.

Adjustable is the way to go. You start the day all rested and lean on the seat and as the day drags on you might want to lower it a touch. I start my day out leaning on my seat and end my day sitting on it. Of course I am one of those senior citizen types.

Another thing to consider. On a day when the water is like glass, you might prefer it higher than when you're fishing on a sloppy day and you want to spread your legs a bit more and lower your center of gravity for stability. There is no one size fits all, or all conditions.

I'm a short guy so even at the lowest setting, the hydraulic pedistals are still to tall. I have the adjustible with a pin. I also like mine a little low so I can sit when need be because of a bad back. they can be found at BPS, Cabelas, etc.

Thanks everyone for the input. I will be buying an adjustable pedestal but it only goes up to 31".

I was hoping to get an idea of the adjustments being close to what I need.

Everyone seems to agree on an adjustable so I will try that.
