Whats A Good Pair Of Fishing Gloves?

Featured Replies

What gloves does everyone use in the winter to fish? Without a full thumb preferably, I don't want to cut up a good pair of gloves unless i have to.

I use UG Glove golf rain gloves.

Here's some good info from a similar thread last year: http://www.bassresou...es-for-fishing/

For me - I've been wearing the Under Armour glove liners for the past 2 winters. Good down to about 40deg., not as good in the 30s. Thick enough to provide some warmth, thin enough to use a BC reel. When temps get into the lower 30s, I put a pair of wool gloves over the liners...but then you compromise some dexterity to use a BC reel.

I also have a pair of Seirus HyperLite gloves - they're similar to the UA liners but have a longer cuff which is a plus. I wear the Seirus gloves during my morning walks but when the UA liners wear out, the Seirus gloves will be going fishing...

I wear a cheap pair of White River half finger gloves in all but the coldest weather. If I'm running I have a pack of Jerzee gloves that I wear. If pair gets wet I throw them on the bottom of the boat and grab a dry pair. In real bad weather I have a pair of Glacier Gloves with half thumb and index finger.

Army issue nomex/leather flight gloves. I can thumb the reel no problem without hacking up the gloves.

I've done the golf glove thing, and they work well. But, think about trying the kitchen gloves that can be worn for doing household work such as doing the dishes.

They have a long gauntlet which can be folded up to prevent water from running down your arm and getting your sleeves wet. They have some type of fuzzy liner which will provide some small measure of protection from the cold. They also come in three or four sizes so you should be able to get a fairly snug fit which will give you better feel than heavier gloves.

They won't be much help in bitter cold, but on those days when your fingers just start to get uncomfortably cold when bare handed, they should keep your hands dry and comfortable.

I just keep 3 or 4 pairs of cheap old brown jersey gloves with the thumb cut off when a pair gets wet just throw another pair on. I've tried a few pair of neoprene gloves but my hands get colder with them than if I wasn't wearing any
