6' Medium Spinning Rod

Featured Replies

I recently received a 6" Medium spinning rod as a gift. What techniques are y'all using this size for? I was given the receipt and was told that I could go exchange it if there was a different one I was after, but I prefer not to take it back if this would work for a specific technique.

Thanks

Skipping docks, drop shotting in the "cone", jerkbaits.

That would be ideal for skipping docks. But its much more versatile than that. Rod length tends to be a bit overrated in bass fishing. I use my 6' St croix LE for everything from skipping to shaky heads to drop shots. Its really nice when fishing small lakes in a jonboat with limited space (or a canoe). I also find vertical jigging much easier with a short rod.

I guess more of what I am asking is if it ideal for any specific technique or if I should look another direction?

I guess one could elaborate on Farmers post. Those are all good sugestions. I'd skip a fluke under docks or over hangs and work it back in a jerk/twitch pause retrieve experimenting with cadence. That's also a good rod for tossing small jigs or weightless plastice to stream smallies.

That's kinda what I was thinking. I figured if nothing else, it wouldn't make a bad creek rod.
