Cant Get The Reel To Seat Correctly

Featured Replies

So i just got a Veritas rod and went to put my pflueger president on it and after tighning all the way down the reel was still lose..I thought this was strange so i got another reel a Daiwa Zillion and guess what it didn't fit either. But when i put a PQ on it everything was fine. Anyone have these problems with the Veritas rod before?

P.S. i ended up just getting a Vendetta.

Wrap the reel feet with electrical tape. I do this anyway, to protect against scratches that detract from resale.

Well i thought about wrapping it with something but it just seemed strange that a rod would not be able to be used with a certain reel. But i guess thats just one more way to get you to buy more of there products Custom fit rods and reels..lol.

I ended up just takin it back and gettin a vendetta. I already have 2 of them and really like em which is why i wanted to try the Veritas.

It used to be really bad in the 80's when mixing brands.

Is this the winch model? I read on another forum the new winch series rods were designed for the winch reel and a lot of other brands don't fit properly.

I've got a rod or 2 that my reels feel a bit loose on. I put some paper or cardboad on the reel seat and then the reel, does a good job of tightening it down.

I have an STX on a Veritas and it gets loose on occassion. Same with the Vendetta. The real seats on those two rods are my only issues with them.

As others mentioned, wrapping the feet solves the issue.

Yeah...not much compliance with those aluminum reel seats. Do like JFrancho said...use the electrical tape. It will help fill in any gap due to tolerance differences between brands, but moreso, will add some much needed compliance to the stackup.
