Wiggle Rig/Mojo rig

Featured Replies

Raul told me in another thread that the Wiggle Rig was a drop shot with a rubber band.  Can you gentlemen help me with this more? How to? When to? Why to? Mostly how to make it??

Also, I remember a Mojo Rig that involved a light cylindrical weight with clips or hooks on the weight that would hang it on moss or grass and dangle the bait below the moss or grass mat. Anybody know if these are still around? If not is there a way to make your own? Here in the middle of Illinois, alot of my favorite holes are really getting grassed in and I am looking for more efficient ways to fish them. I don't mind picking snot and grass if i know there is a prize inside. What is the best gear to present that rig on also?  Maybe my new BCR855?

Thanks again, you fellas are a tremendous help.

I was going to say search, but I just tried and the search timed out twice in a row.   :-/

Anyway, google "wiggle rig" and you'll get all you need to know.

Killer on bedding bass.

And this link has more than you'll ever need to know about the Mojo rig, from the source:

That's just my little good hearted jab when something is so easy to find. My wife will ask me some inane question, like what's in mayonnaise, that I don't have the answer for, and my response is, "What the heck, is Google down again!"

Try this link for the original application of the "wiggle rig". I use it 50/50 on my drop shot rods. "Sometimes they feel like a nut, sometimes they don't!"

anyone make there own wiggle rig? what would be something i could use for the stretch part? i think a rubber band would break easily

Its $5 for a dozen spectastic cords and $2 for the line locks.  Why bother making your own at those prices?

::)

Because i like to make my own rigs and baits when i can and these looked like something easily made at home. Not trying to save money but its nice not having to rely on ordering something online doing it yourself also can let you change certain parts of it to work better for you.

just looked at some information on the material used for the stretch part and i don't think there is any common thing that will work as good as he has it so i might have to order some

Those used to be sold on the shelves at Walmart when Renosky owned the rights to that bungee cord deal.  I guess I should've bought some then.  IIRC, they used to sell it in a kit.

This rig is awesome!  It really works well in many different situations.  I ordered the Pro Pack and it should last me a year if not longer, but I use the recoil rig every outing.  I am glad a big company picked this up and started getting the word out.  Allot of guys are missing out not knowing about it.

It looks great, and I've tried it. There will be times where fish will want a bait that has LESS movement then this though.

I went out with a buddy last year, and was out fished 7:1 in the first half an hour. Same bait, same size, same weight, same spots. After 4:0 I went to the front of the boat, where he continued to out fish me. After dropping the wiggle rig and going back to a normal drop shot, I managed 5 or 6 fish in a short time.

This will not always be the case. Just a heads up, that if it's not working, try something slightly different.

I've seen that happen a few times. That indicates too much action.

Especially in clear water, the more subtle the motion, the better your odds of getting bit. When anglers report having problems with this technique and I observe them, the most common error I see is jiggling the rod tip non-stop or putting too much action in their lure. By just lifting the rod tip enough to maintain slight tension on the line so the elastic cord is stretched a little, every minuscule shake or vibration of your hand is transmitted to the lure, and that can be all it takes.
