Frog fishing (not what you think)

Featured Replies

Has anyone ever done this before? A few times I got bored so I put a baby brush hog by a frog and let it eat it. Here is a video for reference:

Yea thats funny!

Ive actually had my spro frogs eaten several times by very large bullfrogs.  Most oft he time I can get the hooks out easily but a couple of times Ive had to cut the frogs mouth to get my spro frog back.

The topwater hit looks and feels just like a bass when a big frog hits it.

I've caught a couple large bullfrogs on weedless lure by accident, just chucked them back out and waited for the inevitable  ;D

:Di got a 12" bullfrog on "the original" snag proof 1/2 oz.

i hooked him up on a bobber and let him dance, nothing hit so i reeled him in and set him free... unharmed with a small lip piercing.

Love me some froglegs

This isn't quite on subject :-/. The aquarium at the Memphis Zoo used to have a really large albino bull frog on display. A fly fisherman saw him and cast a fly next to him which he promptly ate, which is how he ended up at the zoo...

Frogs are pretty aggressive dudes. I've had them come from 10 feet away and hammer my Hollow Body frog bait. Cannibals too.

I don't know why but I always mess with one if he wants to play. Passes the time. I've actually caught several. Even had one try to get on top of my bait. Must have thought it was a girl.

I was just a kid in Jersey, when I was first exposed to frog fishing (the real McCoy).

My dad took me to Lake Owassa, where he was using a split-bamboo flyrod

and bass bugs for bull frogs. He would drop the bug within a couple feet of a frog,

twitch it once or twice, and the frog would pounce on the bug.

Well..apparently frogs have high acidic saliva, because the following year

when my dad opened up his fly box, all his hair bugs had fallen apart :o;)

Used to do it with powerworms when I was younger living in Ohio.Cast worm onto pads or surface scum weightless and twitch a few times.I was amazed at how far one of those guys would leap to grab it.I always kind of thought that maybe the frog thought the worm was a large dragon fly or such. The frogs really seemed to like the taste of the powerbait and would hang on to it long enough for you yank them out of the water without actually hooking them. Then the real fun begins after you get one on the bank and you got to try to quickly get your hands on that slimy sucker. ;)
