anyone fish these alot ? how do you like them and do they run as deep as they say ?? been using DD22's alot , love em , but want to run a little deeper ( actually alot ) so please let me know how they are , thanks ........  :)

The manns thirty plus is a lure you can use to fish with and build a dock with. You can dredge out a spot with those things

hahah.

u usually use a boat to reel in the 30+!!!

i have some smaller ones ive been thinking about fishing for bass with. im interested in this too. all i ever use a 30+ for is grouper.

I try to fish them, but they just tear up my shoulders(So does a DD22) and my neck.

If I get bit on one I usually punch in the waypoint and grab a Texas rig or a Caroling rig to see if I can get the bite without destroying my body.

My wife can always tell what the bite was by seeing the way I react when I get home.

is it that you need a heavy action rod , cause i use one to fish DD22's and they don't stress me at all , welll , can't wait to try some of the 20+'s and 30+'s !!! :) so is there anyone that uses these lures regularly ??? and do they produce for you ???

To answer the depth question, the 30+ is really only good for low 20's.  A 3/4 oz. Luhr-Jensen Hot Lips will get a little deeper than the Manns....still pulls like an anchor.

You can get a Poe's Comp Cedars 4500 LR or a Rapala DT-20 to get you into the 20' range much more easily.

I've only had the DT-20 for about a month, but it is already putting fish in the boat quite well.  I think they did an excellent job on the design.

My year 2000 "Precision Casting" book says the +20 dives 18 ft on a 100 ft cast with 10 lb mono, while the +30 goes 21.5 ft with the same setup.  100 ft is a LONG cast!  A DD-22 goes 17 ft, so you're only getting an extra foot with the +20.  A 3/4 oz Hotlips Express gets you 22 ft with the same setup.  I haven't tried a Rapala DT-20 yet but I generally like the DT series baits.

Yep, I've fished them on the heavy rods. Got more to do with the three plates and 12 screws in my neck that causes the problem.

I think you'll dig it, Bob. It seems to do everything very well. They also achieved a good balance on the buoyancy - which I would rate as moderate - adequate for cover. The one thing I don't like about the Poe's is that it is weighted too much - almost suspends.

It also casts extremely well. Using a line counter, I marked my braid at certain intervals to help me determine how far some of these deep divers cast (since castability is one of the most important attributes of a deep diving crank). The best casting baits I can get into the 140 ft. range....occasionally I can swing it just right and get to nearly 150. The DT is among them - both the 16 and the 20.

Stringjam I apppreciate the reports on the DT 20's, I bought 2 when they came out and sad to say I lost them both one went to a Northern Pike the other to an underwater stump so I never got a chance to use them long to decide if they should be a part of the rotation. I've also purchased the Dredger, put a little over an hour so far into it and I haven't caught anything on it yet though I haven't put in enough time with it for a full evaluation.
