I have heard from many people that next to their rods and reels sunglasses are the most important tool for a fisherman to have. Agree or disagree im looking at buying a new pair of high quality glasses. What do y'all recomend? btw heard good things about costa 580 lenses...

Don't go cheap and get complete coverage. First time I bought some I made both mistakes. The ones I got did not cover the sides so they were useless.

Right now I'm rockin' Calcuttas baby ;D $20!

Buy the best pair that you can afford.

They're important in that they could protect your eyes from a flying object, such as a hook, they can protect your eye health and help you see into the water. Whatever you get, make sure they offer at least 99% protection from both UVA and UVB. There are lots of good brands out there.

You can get by with a cheap pair but you will regret it in the long run. Costa Del Mar, Oakley, Maui Jim, etc...are good brands to start off your research.

I always fished with 12 dollar glasses from Walmart until this year.  I got a pair of Wiley X Jakes for fathers day and I cant believe the difference.  Cheap glasses are not optically correct and will cause extra eye strain on top of not blocking all the uv rays.  I would recommend Wiley X, but regardless of what brand you choose, get a good pair of glasses.  You will not be disappointed.

You can get a decent pair for 80 bucks. I like Oalkey for the sporty looks.

I use Cocoon Aviators, they fit over my glasses and I love them. I got copper color lenses, as copper cuts water glare better than all other colors. Cocoons are available in gray, yellow, amber, and copper, with frame colors in gray, black, and tortoise shell.

I agree that your sunglasses are an important tool when fishing. They will allow you to see structure that otherwise, you would have no idea is there. Can't count the times I've spotted that "lone stump", pitched to it, and stuck one.

That being said, I have Costa Del Mar, amber lens, love em!

I had a pair of Costa Del Mars, I loved them, got closed in tail gate. I went to Wally World and bought a cheap pair, Foster Grants I think work pretty well but still don't rate up there to my Costa's.  I wade fish a lot...Seeing in the water past the glare keeps me from tripping on a lot of things that I normally wouldn't have seen.

I agree that sunglasses are extreamly important. I have a pair of Costa 480 swordfish glasses that are great. They were $200 and I got them from an eye doctor. The lenses a actual glass not plastic and you can get them in prescriptions if needed. I don't know anything about the 580's but the 480's are great.

I have a pair of Oakley half jackets and love them. It is true that good sunglasses are just as important as good gear. I really do recommend the half jackets that way I can switch the lenses to meet the light. You can pick up lenses and frames on ebay pretty cheap.
