The gun will mainly be used for turkey hunting, but it'll get light use for doves, clays, and potentially waterfowl (if I ever make that jump). Right now, I'm leaning towards:

*Semi Auto
*26'' Barrel
*Synthetic (preferably camo) stock

I'm a lefty, but I've been shooting right handed guns all my life. It's something I'm used to, but I would like to eventually own a lefty gun. I've been looking at the Rem 1100/1187 Mossberg 930, Franchi I12, Stoeger M2000, Beretta 3901 etc.

Naturally, I won't know which gun is "the one" until I get my hands on it at the range, but I wanted a little insight first.

Thanks guys :)

I have and have had both rem 1100s and 11-87s. I just sold my 1100 to my father in law last week actually. Both guns were great guns and looking back wish I never sold them even though I'll get 1100 back. The 1100 is no longer made how ever so they may be harder to track down. Iv cycled hundreds maybe even thousands of rounds threw each and never once have I had a FTF/jam. The 11-87 is on sale usually at dicks I think they had them on sale this weekend actually.

I have the Mossberg. It's cammo, shoots 3.5'' shells & came with a long barrel for duck.. & the Turkey barrel...

I had the Turkey Thumb hole 535 but with 3.5 it kicked like a Mule !!! The Semi auto has a lot less recoil
It’s always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6

Beretta Urika 3901. Hands down. This gun will shoot 2 3/4 through 31/2 simultaniously with no issue as well as the lightest trap loads to the heaviest magnums without a jam. The Beretta gas system is famous for cycling hundreds of rounds without the need for cleaning. It shoulders well and has low recoil. Field and Stream magazine listed the Beretta as the best all around shotgun.
All Urika guns come with a hard case, five choke tubes from skeet -Full, oil, a choke tube wrench.
I have used mine for dove to goose and everything in between. The Beretta full choke throws an amazingly tight pattern as well.

Isn't the 3901 a different gun than the Urika.

I wish it came in camo...But the turkey's haven't seen to notice my black 870 yet so i might go with the black and save a few $$.

And it doesn't have to be able to shoot 3.5''. 3'' is enough as far as I'm concerned.

Any info on the inertia system (on the Benelli's, Stoeger's and Franchi's) vs. gas systems? I've heard that the Benelli's kick more than normal gas systems but recoil really isn't a factor for me.

Inertia system= fancy term for the recoil(kick) is what cycles the gun!

They kick harder, and if you are using light loads, ie. dove, then if it is not firmly on your shoulder on a quick shot, it will not cycle!

I have the Stoeger M2000 and i would not buy it again. LIke 00 mod said, it doesnt cycle very good and the firing pin doesnt hit hard enough to fire some shells. It will not shoot Kent Fasteel at all through it. It was the most comfortable gun I've ever held, but the dern thing just doesnt want to shoot. Im back to shooting my old Auto 5 and Mossberg 500
