All I fish for is Largemouth in the Southeast. (Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina). Color depends on water clarity so I'm going to leave that out. Weather can change in a moment so I'm going to leave that out to. This is what I will have tied onto my rods before I hit the water.

Dec-Feb hard water
March-Nov jigs(PB&J), senkos(BLK&BLU) flukes(BLK&Blu)
On cooling lakes
Spinnerbaits and cranks all season(Shad patterns)
On Lake Michigan
Anything goes for smallies. When they're on they're on. I've caught my largest on chartruse Mepps spinners with black bucktail. Goby patterns and white on white are also good.

Some of the biggest bass in the country will be caught on this rig, this year.
"Uncatchable" fish are being caught. In a few weeks the northern water will
light up. This is the "Next Big Thing".
Otherwise, I'm with Jeff...GMAN Jig/ Rage Tail Craw year around.
In the spring lipless and squarebill crankbaits are killer, but I fish
more jerkbaits just because I like them!
In the summer, especially last year, Rage Tail Thumper and Anaconda
are the tickets.
I have become a stick-in-the-mud when it comes to topwater,
it seems I only fish the Megabass PopMax, MegaStrike Cavitron
or Rage Tail Shad
Now for the not so secret, "TOP SECRET" stuff:
Two years ago on the BassResource RoadTrip, Big O introduced the guys
to the Baby Craw. Most of you probably remember the story, but for those
that don't, Big O and our Army Sargents caught 144 smallmouth during the
worst part of the storm. The rest of us "got a clue".
In the spring and early summer, the Baby Craw is killer! Rig it naked on a 2/0
Offset Worm Hook, 1/8 oz bullet weight, unpegged. Number two & three would
be the Craw and Lobster fished naked on a weighted Offset Worm Hook. If you
prefer, T-rigged works, too.

Craiger check out Paycheck's Donkey Thrasher. It is a finesse version of an a-rig (if that even makes sense) with better action. I plan on picking one up.
I will be interested in hearing your results. Lighter is better for me, but all our fish
were caught on the Johnson Silver Minnow. From what I have read, everyone is
reporting 95% of their hook-ups are on the middle arm which the Donkey Thrasher
doesn't have.

Dec/Jan/Feb/March = Ice coverd water in most "normal" years
April - Pre spawn, lipless and squarebill cranks, soft and hard jerkbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits mainly, but any thing I have is fair game.
May- Sept. Spawn/post spawn/summer patterns...just about every thing in the tackle box is in play
Oct-Nov, fall...a lot of the same stuff as prespawn, but I have had great days in november on frogs of all things, so really I don't "limit" myseld to certain baits based on seasons.

I can't really offer much more than that. Blades in spring and fall seem to work really well on tough days. What works for me:

This is a pretty cool idea. Let me give it a shot.

X2, It always starts with the jig for me here in Va. as well, C-rig is always a 6" lizard that's the only difference.
This year I am hoping to try the Anoconda on a C-rig for some fun.
I have also found that when it comes to friends, a good friend will come and bail you out of jail, but best friends will be right there beside you saying d**n that was fun !!!

South east ponds:
when it is cold, it's kind of pointless so I am going to skip to the warmer months
summer
run spinnerbaits or crankbaits over shallow weed beds
poppers worked around shallow corners
jerkbaits over beds
light weight or weightless plastics in the shallows
finesse jigs
fall
medium running cranks when the weather cools
a little heavier plastics
weightless plastics
