If you were to make a quick list of seasonal techniques based on Largemouth and smallmouth...stating location (SE, NE, SW, NW ) conditions, color, type of bait and presentation what would it look like? Here's an example

All NE fishing >>>
LGmouth - May - windy - chartreuse spinnerbait -slow roll
LGmouth - July - calm -Yamamotto green pump. twin tail 3/0 hook on structure
SM mouth - august - calm - 5" pumpkin Senko - wacky rig
SM mouth - June - calm - drop shot - 4" Zoom black finesse small hook

Be nice to see how everyone thinks...maybe get some new ideas!

This is a pretty cool idea. Let me give it a shot.

All I fish for is Largemouth in the Southeast. (Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina). Color depends on water clarity so I'm going to leave that out. Weather can change in a moment so I'm going to leave that out to. This is what I will have tied onto my rods before I hit the water.

January, Febuary - Jig, medium diving crankbait, jerkbait, dropshot, shakyhead
March - (Pre-Spawn) Jig, T-Rig 5" lizzard, T-Rig brushhog, shallow crankbait.
April - (Spawn) Jig, T-Rig 6" lizzard, Hollow body frog, spinnerbait, shallow crankbait
May - (Post-Spawn) Jig, buzzbait, Super Spook Jr, fluke, shakyhead
June - Jig, Super Spook Jr, buzzbait, C-Rig worm, shallow crankbait, dropshot
July, August, September- Jig, medium crankbait, deep crankbait, C-Rig worm, buzzbait
October, November - Jig, Medium and Shallow Crankbait, Lipless crankabait, fluke
December - Jig, Shallow Crankbait, T-Rig worm, jerkbait, shakyhead

Here in western New York the lures I use can be effective spring through fall. The major exception is when topwater doesn't work in colder water at the start and end of the season.

Here in Northern IL on my home lake
Dec-Feb hard water
March-Nov jigs(PB&J), senkos(BLK&BLU) flukes(BLK&Blu)

On cooling lakes
Spinnerbaits and cranks all season(Shad patterns)

On Lake Michigan
Anything goes for smallies. When they're on they're on. I've caught my largest on chartruse Mepps spinners with black bucktail. Goby patterns and white on white are also good.
Is "basstiality" the same as sleeping with the fishes?

The Alabama Rig RULES!

Some of the biggest bass in the country will be caught on this rig, this year.
"Uncatchable" fish are being caught. In a few weeks the northern water will
light up. This is the "Next Big Thing".

Otherwise, I'm with Jeff...GMAN Jig/ Rage Tail Craw year around.
In the spring lipless and squarebill crankbaits are killer, but I fish
more jerkbaits just because I like them!
In the summer, especially last year, Rage Tail Thumper and Anaconda
are the tickets.
I have become a stick-in-the-mud when it comes to topwater,
it seems I only fish the Megabass PopMax, MegaStrike Cavitron
or Rage Tail Shad

Now for the not so secret, "TOP SECRET" stuff:
Two years ago on the BassResource RoadTrip, Big O introduced the guys
to the Baby Craw. Most of you probably remember the story, but for those
that don't, Big O and our Army Sargents caught 144 smallmouth during the
worst part of the storm. The rest of us "got a clue".

In the spring and early summer, the Baby Craw is killer! Rig it naked on a 2/0
Offset Worm Hook, 1/8 oz bullet weight, unpegged. Number two & three would
be the Craw and Lobster fished naked on a weighted Offset Worm Hook. If you
prefer, T-rigged works, too.

RW - Which A-rig are you throwing? I'm looking for a lighter one that I can throw on my Dobyns 765C.

Craiger check out Paycheck's Donkey Thrasher. It is a finesse version of an a-rig (if that even makes sense) with better action. I plan on picking one up.

I'm still experimenting with baits and lures, but this worked great on Saturday:

YUMbrella
3.5" Lake Fork Tackle Live Magic Shad (weightless)/ 3/0 thin wire Offset Worm Hooks (light wire) on the outside arms
Johnson Silver Minnow in the middle for flash
65# braid
G. Loomis MBR844C/ CTE200GT

I will be interested in hearing your results. Lighter is better for me, but all our fish
were caught on the Johnson Silver Minnow. From what I have read, everyone is
reporting 95% of their hook-ups are on the middle arm which the Donkey Thrasher
doesn't have.

What works for me:

Dec/Jan/Feb/March = Ice coverd water in most "normal" years

April - Pre spawn, lipless and squarebill cranks, soft and hard jerkbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits mainly, but any thing I have is fair game.

May- Sept. Spawn/post spawn/summer patterns...just about every thing in the tackle box is in play

Oct-Nov, fall...a lot of the same stuff as prespawn, but I have had great days in november on frogs of all things, so really I don't "limit" myseld to certain baits based on seasons.
I am not afraid to suck.

I can't really offer much more than that. Blades in spring and fall seem to work really well on tough days.

X2, It always starts with the jig for me here in Va. as well, C-rig is always a 6" lizard that's the only difference.

This year I am hoping to try the Anoconda on a C-rig for some fun.
Fishing is my idea of a good lip piercing!

I have also found that when it comes to friends, a good friend will come and bail you out of jail, but best friends will be right there beside you saying d**n that was fun !!!

I use to own Virginia Outdoorsman in Smith Mtn Lake VA and sold litterly tons of baits. Zoom and Yamamotto I would say where the two biggest Brands as far as sales. Jigs, Texas & Carolina rigs soft plastics were the most popular by far But since we moved to the Northeast you can pretty much forget anything that we used in VA. Seems here in NH everyone is hell bent on Senkos wacky rig...very different way of fishing, can't remember last time I saw someone using a jig!

Lets throw a monkey wrench in things,

South east ponds:

when it is cold, it's kind of pointless so I am going to skip to the warmer months

summer
run spinnerbaits or crankbaits over shallow weed beds
poppers worked around shallow corners
jerkbaits over beds
light weight or weightless plastics in the shallows
finesse jigs

fall
medium running cranks when the weather cools
a little heavier plastics
weightless plastics
