im looking at getting one for jigs/flippin/pitchin. ive been looking at either the 735c or 736c but cant quite decide. what do you dobyns guys think? open to suggestions on other dobyns rods models also. thanks in advance guys.

I now have four Champion Extreme 704C rods and IMO they're the best on the market. If you can afford to go with the Extremes you will not regret it.

thanks. i was lookin at those but im gonna start with the champ series cus i can get a pretty decent deal on em. at the moment i dont have the extra cash for the extreme but in another month i will. so do you think the 2 models i mentioned would be good for what i wanna use em for, more or less which one do you think would be best?

The 735C is the more versitile rod, if you want to do more than pitching,flipping, and frogs, I would choose it, if your rod is going to be dedicated to heavier baits 3/8oz and over, up to a couple of oz, then the 736C may be the way to go.

I have the Champion 683C saddled with a CH50MG. Great rig for hair jigs
or just about any single hook application with lures weighing 1/2 oz or
less. For relative comparison, the comp would be G.Loomis IMX series.

hmm im leaning more towards the 736c now cus i usually use baits 3/8 n heavier. usually 3/8 is the lightest ill go most the time. im gonna be using the rod for jigs/flippin/pitchin and some punching here and there. i have a rod for frogs so whichever rod i get will probably never have a frog tied on it.

I would say the Champion extreme is close to a Loomis IMX, A Champion is on the same level as a GL3, a very good rod in its own right.

The 735 is an AWESOME rod.

You will NOT be disappointed in the Champion series.

thanks wild bill. ive heard it was and ive checked it out. ive heard nothin but good about the champion series. although these rods are somewhat similar its hard to decide lol the 735 might be the better choice as it seems to be a more versatile rod buuuuuut im stubborn and absolutely love flippin sticks so ive got some thinkin to do. itll be a few weeks before i get the rod so ill see what else others have to say that might steer me towards one over the other.

Dobyns Champion series rods are hard to beat in their price range. I have the 733, 734 abd 765 Flip. When I can come up with the green, the Champion 735 will be added. If you consider 1/2 to 1 oz. baits the norm, the 735 will be the deal. Check out Justin Rackley's You Tube video on that model. Good luck.

lol lately i find 3/8-1 oz the norm so the 735 might be the ticket but well see, got some time to ponder. ill definantly check that out, thanks flippin and pitchin

after watchin that video im steering more and more towards the 735c. i love how rackley says its the ak47 of jig rods lol

There's got to be some tackle shop near you in California that stocks them.

Be glad you do not live on the east coast, as it is FAR harder to get your hands on quality Bass fishing gear here than compared to California to feel them in yourown hands , trust me.

my local tackle shop has the 735c and 736c as well as a bunch of other models in the savy, champion, and champion extreme. ive got my hands on the rods im lookin at and they both feel amazing but i think the 735c might be more of what im lookin for.

If you're going to be doing some punching then you'd probably be better off with the 736. Better yet, step it up a bit and get the 766 if you can fit it. It was made for flipping/pitching.

I use the 735 as my dedicated jig rod, mostly 3/8 and 1/2 oz, open water and pitching into sparse cover. It's definitely got power... I've boat flipped 4lbers with it. But I wouldn't feel comfortable pitching into real heavy stuff or punching.
