Whats your thought?

Since we have had an unseasonably warm winter what do all of you think, will bass spawn alittle earlier this year than normal? I live in southern NH. Every body of water around has been completely iced out for a few weeks now. We have had a some really warm days lately as well.

Nope, doubt they have even started. Bass are still in early to mid prespawn in Michigan.

Water temps here in MA are in the low to mid 50's right now. The big females are still in pre-spawn. I haven't seen any beds yet. The males have been cruising the shorelines looking for bedding locations however. Both sexes are actively feeding. This week temps have dropped considerably, so I doubt that the water will warm much any time soon. If/when the temps start to move up again, they may start bedding, but a lot has to do with water temp and angle of the sun. I think they know it's still a bit too early, regardless of the recent daytime warm temps.

It may trigger things a little bit earlier, but I have not seen any signs of spawning bass. In Indiana we had 2 weeks of solid 70-80 degree weather and the bass in the small pond I fish did not show any spawning activity. However, they were definitely actively feeding. With the cold front coming in and the weather dropping it shut that down pretty good. I can't imagine that there have been any spawning bass farther up north.

About the same here in Northern IL. No signs of spawn yet but lots of males cruzing the shallows and actively feeding.

Hey man, I am also in southern NH. Its been cooling off a bit lately but I would expect spawn a couple weeks earlier than normal. I could be wrong though.

Here in central IL they are not spawning yet, even with the water temps getting there. The overnight temps lately have really affected timing- but they are no doubt still in prespawn.

In the DFW area the bass don't ever spawn - the females are too stuck up and the males all get hookers...

i live in central pennsylvania.. the bass seem to be hanging out around the spawning areas but few if any are actually on beds as of today april 1st. the length of daylight and moon phase seem to play a big factor in when they actually begin the act of spawning , at least in my region of the country

On Lake Champlain some females have been netted by F&G that have spawned already (this was in an article from the 25th of March).

"Spring has come so early to Lake Champlain that biologists conducting trap-net surveys in the northern end of the lake determined that as of last week, the pike spawn was already essentially over. Even some of the largemouth bass they collected were spawned out, which Chipman calls 'really weird.'"
If necessity is the mother of invention, laziness is the deadbeat dad that knocked her up...

Personal Bests:
Largemouth, 7lbs 0oz.
Smallmouth, 5lbs 4oz.
Wife 5'9"

Things have been crazy here, fish spawned very early. Still catching a few with eggs, but the long spawning season with bedding bass just ain't going to happen this year. I think it just got too hot, to quick, but whatever.
