  1. I fished about 4 & 1/2 hours and here's what it came out to be: fished most of the time shallow, tried some tubes, spinnerbait and a shallow running crankbait. no such luck shallow. there's a bridge that crosses over apart of the lake and its deep there. I put on a deep running crankbait and caught 2 bass the rest of the time. keep in mind I was bankfishing, so I didn't get to alot of the lake. almost a quarter of it I guess. I'm quite tickled actually. I was able to change my preconception and adapt, leading to 2 caught bass. and boy they hit hard too! especially the dink I caught. I thought he was a 4lber when he hit. couldn't have been a pound. hah
  2. well, a front moved past, the rain cooled everything down. this is the day after. I'm guessing the fish will be deep. how to attack this for future situations in both ponds and lakes?
  3. well, I think when the time comes for me to get married, I have quite a few ways to make sure she is the "right one"... lmao now I'm going fishin... I only gotta tell my mom my room will get done soon and the grass is already cut! (IT NEVER STOPS DOES IT?!?) HAHA! :-/
  4. where can I find a pic of a spook?
  5. well today I was sight fishin this bass with a white fluke/chart tail. when I barely moved the bait, he seemed to like it, when I moved it alot, he swam off. I was coming to a conclusion, but haven't totally realized it yet. donno if that makes sense, but this topic sort of helped me see the direction my conclusion is going to come too. how unreal I may be making some lures look.
  6. well, let me give you the good news. I caught a 9.5lb catfish on a spinnerbait. he was huge, and a great catch! what confused me... I saw 5 or more pods of baitfish being chased. I tossed everything I had into the middle, or near, the pod and no strikes. I even tried a clear senko w/ gold/silver flakes rigged wacky style. still nothing. I let it drop. I twitched it fast, I twitched it slow. I thought I should have caught something! What was wrong? I even through a green blue fox crankbait and didn't even snag a baitfish, lol it was flustrating. I tried a white fluke/chart tail, and still nothing. any ideas on how to go about this next time? thanks! ;D
  7. why don't you show her the beautiful side to to fishing? show her the romantic side to fishing: the beautiful sky that goes on like the love you two have for each other, the lovely way the lake glimmers the same way here eyes sparkle, and the way the wind coaxes the current into motion. and then, set her up with a fish on the line as you explain this to her, and maybe she'll understand. hey, can't hurt to try.
  8. lol, amen to that.
  9. an article on baits... http://bassresource.com/fishing/spinnerbait_topwater_crankbait.html another on confidence baits http://bassresource.com/fishing/best_lure.html and I got this here... http://bassresource.com/fishing/features.html#lures
  10. hm. how nice of you to comment. I'd like to know what other people in my area are catchin on and where it is they are catching. so I'm pretty interested myself.
  11. I've been noticing these changes in fish. especially at the small lake I sometimes fish. I fished about 3 -4 hours with black bleeding tubes and junebug/chart trick worm. and a violet/purple brushhog. nada. bassin4life and bassmaster. what things are workin for you?
  12. ironically, I try to tell a guy I fish with frequently some tips, and he never listens... HAH
  13. I just fished a small lake today and a nice sized front came through a few days ago. didn't get any fish, had 1 bite. but no fish. this same lake I only fish one side of the bank where there is a spill way or water way in the middle of it. never caught a fish right before and after dark, either. they're funny kinda fish. however, I am not able to access the rest of the lake.
  14. an old fella I know says this, "it aint about luck, its just the spot you happen to be in at the time a fish strolls by" he follows this up with a story with him/his sister/his dad. him and his dad fish all day and don't catch much. his sister has a stick with a piece of string attached to it. she catches a huge pickeral and the biggest fish of the day. the trick is, findin where the fish stroll by
  15. I attempt to take people fishing with me, the company is enjoyable. ironically, I don't talk much to 'em and since I fish on the bank, I don't fish near them either. my thoughts are, I hope to take someone so that they can enjoy fishing as much as I do. however, sometimes I try to give them tips, like "fish slow in cold water" and they are burnin a crankbait. I'm like, ARRRRGH! YOU WON"T CATCH FISH THAT WAY! lol and they wonder why the fish aren't bitin, and come up with ideas like "lets go to the store 10 miles away, they'll bite on spoons. they aren't bitin crankbaits"... lmao, I enjoy taking my dad though. He doesn't have the drive to set a date/time to go (with work and all), but he enjoys fishing. so I try to push him to go with me.
  16. those 5% are florida voters. They meant to vote 'this site is the best'... ;D
  17. AMEN! well, enthusiasm is a good response, right? ;D
  18. theres a small lake I fish sometimes, and they have jon boats at the dock. wind blows quite heavy, and those boats are always clankin around and makin noise... are fish going to be driven away from the noise or what? theres only one dock where u can fish at, all bank fishin is not allowed except on the dock. wednesday thru sunday people are constantly fishin from the dock. they are closed monday & tuesday. so I donno if they would be weary of hangin out there... but even if that dont matter, will that constant noise drive them away?
  19. well I'll be damned, I never thought of that! I was wonderin how u would get natural minners. as sarcastic as this sounds, I'm bein dead serious.
  20. I was fishin today and across the way I saw what looked like a HUGE BOLDER (rock) thrown into the lake. well, it was a fish of course. and it could have been a carp. but I'm not so sure. I want to think it was a bass. if it was. is it going to be there around the same time tomorrow?
  21. good piece of info for bank fisherman like myself. my box has gotten quite heavy, and this is a great topic. I have started to carry an extra tube/worm in my pocket and walk around, but I've been thinkin about puttin everything in a plastic box and loadin' it all into a bookbag. ------------------------------------------------- btw, why don't u all just mail me the bait u don't use? I'm poor and need money... :-/
  22. ah, my friend. me TOO! except, lately I've at least caught 1 bass the 2 times I went out. try a 5 - 10 ft off the shore. thats about all my experience can tell u. make sure ur fishing good colors for ur environment. from what I understand, this is a color scale u can go by... solid colors for muddy water to transparent colors for clear water. also, bright colors for muddy water to natural colors for clear water.
  23. well thanks, I'm glad I could help someone after all the help I've gotten...
  24. well if there are some more people who will confirm this theory, I'ma be up before dawn with big minners...
  25. nope, never fished durin a tornado either... swam in the ocean when a bad storm came by, does that count? and yeah, tornado-crazed bass like bright pink buzzbaits... hah
