  1. There have been many posts on night fishing. but my question comes from my lack of confidence in the bass able to see a plastic in the night. full moon was last night, so it'll be somewhat bright out. I would just greatly appreciate any experience, strength, and hope from people that night fish successfully may have for me. I know about using rattles, but I dont have any for my plastics. I have a tube rattle. but I intend to use a c-rig senko. will they be able to find that and locate it? If I have to, I'll resort to other things. crankbaits, jig n pig, etc. those who are successful at night fishing. if you will please shed some light for me to fish at night.
  2. if weed growth and similar stuff is such a big problem, u might want to invest in some grass eating carp. a professional would know how many for that size of pond, maybe 2 would be sufficient. not sure. but they would help a lot. thats not to say weeds are bad, if they are so over grown though, then it would help. however, they will supply oxygen to the fish, so some are good.
  3. I saw a quote on the website a while back by Henry David Thoreau sayin (along the lines of..) "after fishing for some time, you begin to realize it's not the fish you're looking for." had to jab that in there, ;D btw glen, I tried refreshing the page so many times to get it up there. if you have it or anyone knows it, send that quote to me please.
  4. RW, when ur fishing deep. are u using a depthfinder to locate fish? or just the bottom? also, I am about to see about any articles on approaching deep water... but anything about that I'd appreciate.
  5. I just recently saw a show about him. and they did a good job with it. as most have said, he is someone to admire.
  6. after catching the fish, it is liable to get itself hung up in the lilly pads..
  7. EWG gamakatsu hooks, I prefer the 5/0 g-loc hook they make. all the types of colors I hear about to use under certain conditions... the natural looking colors are what I hear some people say are good for clear water, and other say for murky water. either way, for a first bag of worms, that may be a safer route to go. as for worms/lizards/etc? I donno, I usually pick the one I would want to eat if I were a bass. sounds weird, but there are just some color combinations (color w/ specs) that I just really like. others I could pass on. I am just drawn to certain colors. whichever bait pushes or pulls you the most, grab that color. I always do good with lizards, more so than worms (that might be all in my head) so get what you feel more attracted to. and even though you could buy up the whole store, or get stuck between two baits. (if it comes down to that) the one you originally picked, go with that. pellete weights like they said. I dont know what size it is that I got, but its the smaller of em. 1/4 maybe? I dont know. my biggest thing though is, whichever bait I feel more attracted to and "has to be good fishin" with, I buy. if at the least, I'm more confident with it and thats a big part of fishin.
  8. from what little I know of fishing for Big bass, a real big bass might be discouraged, for whatever reason. they're quite a cautious bunch. and something that out of the ordinary might not help your chances. smaller bass may not be affected.
  9. anyone tried the mossy oak sunglasses? supposively their mossy oak green is their best color to see into the water. if anyone has used them, how much do they go for? and what do you think about them?
  10. oh, I was assuming the depth y'all were talkin about is where the buzzbait is at. nevermind though, I understand now.. and I might have to try usin it as a spinnerbait in murky water... somethin different can't hurt.
  11. lakes/ponds dont freeze too much here in the piedmont of NC. I donno about ice fishing, but I may try some winter fishin... when I'm not attempting to hunt for deer. and I'll do it goin head first... I reckon that applies to all types of fishing. ;D
  12. hell, I never caught a pike... would be fun I would think. after you locate fish, I watched Bill Dance with a tube, cut the fat part at the end of a foam ear plug off and stuck it in the tube, then a weight.. said it took alot of patience though, falling at 3 or 4 secs/1 ft... but was a great way to get those bass that are bein picky to bite... of course, this may be after you locate some fish, and if u have the patience....
  13. that may sum it up... also, this site has dozens upon dozens of articles on fishing, from many sources. I don't know how many sites will have something this site doesn't.. lol I'm sure there is more out there... I can't tell you how much more I have improved after reading some articles, asking questions here, and going before (or onto) the water to fish. then coming back with more questions. hm.. words aren't complex enough to describe how great this site is. ;D
  14. hell, I'm still wrapping my mind around fishing at night... much less in the winter. both sound productive, its a go! (iaconelli doesn't have all the exclamation points, I got a few up my sleeve. lol)
  15. wow, I just learned somethin I didn't know. I figured buzzbaits were really only used on top of the water, unless you killed it and then started to retrieve again.
  16. welcome... you've been infected. its a disease that wont let you leave this forum! ... well, unless you die or give up fishing. probly death though. lots of articles at the top of this forum called "fishing articles", check those out.. great reads under "for beginning anglers"
  17. well, I guess I'd have to say, use something that the bluegill aren't going to bite. something bigger. go get a bag of plastic worm/lizards/flukes/etc... maybe 5" or bigger. cast it past him and bring it right in front of his face. if he doesn't go for it. cast it so that when the bait comes by him, u hit him in the head. thats my 2 cents.
  18. u might wana check this site out... http://baseportal.com/cgi-bin/baseportal.pl?htx=/nivbkq/Bass+Fishing+Log
  19. any experienced anglers find any pros and cons to this idea? whether it would be sufficient or not? er, helpful or not in fishing?
  20. having caught 420 bass in a lifetime... lmao
  21. nick, what do u put them into on ur computer? and the log sounds like a good idea....
  22. lol, great thread... unfortunately, I mostly fish by myself. I went on the wagon and quit drinkin, and most of those "friends" left too... for the better. I try to drag my dad out here and there. but when he gets free time, I let him relax, hes always busy runnin a company. well, I need to push him more, now that I mention it.
  23. well I can answer my own quesiton to some extent. went out right after it rained, and some fish were stalking the rip-rap of a drainage pipe. caught 3 and had 2 other bite in 20 mins. then got kicked out... damnit. can't fish anywhere unless I rent a boat at a lake that either has very slow fishing, skiiers or wakeboarders, or.... the other is bad too, for some reason. give me time I'll think of somethin. sigh... I just wana fish a local pond or 2. all you litterbugs sure make me pay. stop polluting! : so I can fish. anyhow, thanks for the therapy session folks. lol went to another pond and dude fishin there said the bite was on right after it rained, but when I was there it had slowed... to nothin. so I guess right after it rains, its still good fishin... some time after I reckon it slows.......
  24. ROFLMAO... in no way do I see a girlfriend to be needed... unless she buys me fishin stuff. maybe theres another one out there, you all seem to have caught them all..................
  25. its been raining off and on this morning. I have some things to get done, but am off work today. not sure what to expect since it rained. since its been off and on, when does the bite start to slow? most importantly, since its been so hot... does rain affect bass the same? are the bass going to slow down or speed up?
