  1. great post chris. I need to carry this with me as well as raul's post. I have this built-in forgetter, and need it written down in the beginning to be able to remember. this is one of 'em to carry with me. thanks again man. ------------------------------- now when the wind is blowin hard but the fish are tight to cover... a plastic will be difficult to use, so might that mean they will hit a spinnerbait or could they still only want a plastic? I ask cause this situation happened, and they weren't bitin my spinnerbait. maybe I should have crawled it on the bottom or somethin...? guy I was fishin with hit one fish with a worm, at a time when the wind died down. I guess its all trial and error, huh?
  2. what a cliche that is. where have you heard that before? lol
  3. I see what you meant chris, you answered on the other thread... hah raul, I'll wait for you to crop ears and dock a tail... take your time buddy --------------------------------------- in hopes that what I wrote below might bring on other questions or answers, I'ma leave this written here............................ anything you could elaborate on from what you have found? I'm not sure if I even understood you right anyhow. I think you meant that looking at the weather conditions and the water conditions, that you have gained experience with what type of lures might be hot to use at that particular time?
  4. all of these are similar responses. what you need to figure out is how it may be efficient for YOU to put in use. if you decide you really find it necessary.
  5. thats the biggest part of fishing I think. or my biggest problem it seems. lol
  6. conditions exist and point you where you want to go. can you all elaborate on what conditions exist and where they point you?
  7. taken from another thread.... I figure a new topic would address this solely. I'm not sure how to phrase the question, but to keep it simple... what conditions have you all found bass to typically go for jigs, spinnerbaits, certain types of plastics (worm? lizard? etc)... when I go out to fish, what conditions will I find when a jig bite is on? a lizard over a worm? or a fluke over a lizard? a spinnerbait being more attractive?
  8. on the bank? well, hard to fish on the banks when its illegal... ??? where I can fish on bank, as long as I can. 4-5 hours maybe. depending on what access I have to somewhere. now on a boat? thats quite a treat for me, so I stay on the boat as long as I possibly can! 2 days straight? SURE....
  9. what is their secret? ;D seriously... limits?
  10. its clear to me sorta... in a general way. I can't tell what bite is this or that...
  11. sure have, lol I never knew how productive fishing was in the fall. anything you'd like to add? I'm all ears.....
  12. as a bank angler, I never carry a net around with me. personally, I will lose it real quick-like, or something will happen in a negative aspect. I have a tacklebox to carry and a 2 rods, thats more than too much to be carrying around already. in a boat, it's nice to have. it can't go far unless into the water and to the bottom. and it isn't much to carry, because it only sits in the boat. although when I'm on a boat, I rarely use one. either when renting a boat, cause I really never think of it, or on someone elses, well if they have one I'll use it gladly. less damage done to fish, the better. get a rubber one if you do get one.
  13. how's this for a challenge..... they aren't biting not a dag-on thing, but refuse to use live bait? makes more sense to use live bait in this circumstance in order to keep tabs on how the fish are moving and what they're doing. so the next time this happens, we have an idea of what to do.... where they are... what might they bite on... or otherwise, I could be stubborn and cast all day. during the times when bass dont seem to want any lures or variations. it isn't too frequent, but it does happen. but least of all, I'll use live bait if I just want to relax but catch fish. usually on a bank, with a few rods out there. sitting around waiting for a strike. IT ISN"T EVIL! I SWEAR! lol
  14. I think they meant, pitch to birch trees in 15 ft of water or deeper.
  15. when they aren't biting lures. sometimes it happens, when all they will hit is live bait. why lose contact with the fish for those few days and lose their activity? when u can use live bait and continue on seeing the activity of the fish...... which is quite important, yanno. live bait, no challenge. whatever. it IS ok to use live bait every now and then. I know its personal preference. I just think its a good idea to let newcomers know it IS ok to use live bait. instead of making it seem like its "cheating" or immoral.. hah
  16. 2 fish per fluke? sounds like yamamoto baits! I donno how those are rigged. I give it some plastic to hold onto when first sliding the hook on. so it will go up over the eye of the hook quite well when its complete.
  17. ahha.. maybe an article on presentation!? lol man, raul I can read this stuff and not have too much of an understanding by what is being said. thats why I'm grateful you posted a series of this thread.
  18. whew! let me try to mentally digest some of this... lol my biggest thing at the moment is presentation. I think I'm getting somewhat of an idea on how to make a better presentation. but its so vague of an understanding, it all seems the same to me. so after having said that, u now know why I am making this an issue and tryin to address it. :-/ I'll need to re-read it a few more times to remember it, but when reading it, it makes alot of sense. and I see where I go wrong at times.
  19. I'll keep it simple... I'll be waiting for the next issue, and any added input as well. of raul's post... I mean
  20. thanks again for the great posts! from what I have just learned about saltwater fishing in North Carolina. It sort of drowns out much bass fishing. however, that don't mean bass fishing is out of the picture, by a long shot. lots of good advice I plan to take into account while the water cools in the next few months.
  21. the main problem that occurs and continues to grow is the difficulty in catchin bass. big bass especially. bill murphy's theory is that the survival skills that the big bass learned is sent down to their spawn. and that batch of bass are now a little more tougher to catch. detailed presentations become much more necessary... entering a fishing spot needs to be more quieter and stealth is more needed in approaching a spot. not that bass know "fisherman are here and trying to catch us"... but its instincts passed on from big bass to the spawned bass. when the environment isn't "right", they shut off. --------------------------- aside from that, the lakes around me are shallow and smaller in size than the bigger lakes known around the nation. no limits have been created, and anyone can keep anything they catch. I wish they would do something about it. as of now, they just kinda "let it do its thing", without much effort to help it on their part.
  22. you had to get another credit card to pay the other off, didn't you? lol Raul, and anyone else with a vast amount of knowlege, never think anyone is going to think you think you know it all. lol cause then you'll not post your knowledge at times, when all the time I'd like to hear your knowledge. thanks
  23. I donno if this is a far fetched question... is it known about how far away a bass can laterally feel the pressure waves of a texas rigged lizard? (just as an example....)
  24. will a blacklight work with the sunglasses to see the lure colors as fish might see them? great post raul.
