  1. I'm gettin a t-shirt, or 2, for christmas.... 8)
  2. nah, he aint a tournament angler. the bait monkey doesn't care about small fish, hes goin for the big lunkers only!
  3. I try to wear more natural colors. if it doesn't matter, then so be it. if it does, then that works too.
  4. seems like the bass like the bait a bit torn up. looks frail and injured. yanno, for instance a lizard, some people tear off its tail for this effect.
  5. well, yamamoto custom baits are well known for being really soft. Dick's sportin goods restocked their shelves and now they have 'manns hard nosed baits', I was suprised to see how soft they were. it seems like the outside is very soft and the inside is a bit firm. just inspected it for a few seconds, I'ma try them tomrrow to see hwo they fish.
  6. for the most part, all I use are plastics and spinnerbaits. I have some cranks and just got some jigs. I could learn to fish jigs better, I started out with cranks and got away from usin 'em. the thing I think I could improve the most on is finding the fish. presentation of plastics may play apart, but I'm not so sure. I think locating the fish is my biggest obstacle when I set out to fish. maybe I lack in figuring out what is out there in deeper water. I'm thinkin of gettin one of them portable fish finders.
  7. perhaps accepting that this is just the way you are. u might be surprised.
  8. yeah, where'd he put my wallet?
  9. ah, thanks for allowin us to suffer a little bit by your presence... :-X LOL j/p man...
  10. glad you decided to hang around for a while, there's so much info here, I can't remember it all. :-/
  11. take your time to decide before clicking. http://bassresource.com/cgi-bin/bass_fish/YaBB.pl?board=gen_bass;action=display;num=1126728166 once you have entered, you'll never go back---- naw, that thing won't let you LEAVE!
  12. adobe photoshop cs 8.0 is a great program. ----------- great picture man, and a wonderful idea. thats something I'ma have to take up.
  13. the baitmonkey says things like, "oooooooooo, a Megabass Destroyer Evoluzion DTi DNA Titanium F4-610XDti Elseil?!!?" "ooooooooo, I definitely need one of those! what is it again?" "who cares, it must be nice! look how expensive it is!" "and what kind of statement is, 'I don't even have a reel for it.' what kind of crap are you tryin to pull? you should be asking yourself, 'which kind of reel do I want this time??'" ;D
  14. its amazing to see where I was when I first came around here compared to now. this very small progress seems more like huge accomplishments after seeing how little I knew then.
  15. the book I'm readin talks about fishin high pressured lakes, mostly directed to catchin big bass. don't fish the obvious cover located on structure. that spot most likely gets alot of fishing pressure. look for a stump, or a small bush, somethin barely showin up on a depthfinder, and hit that hard. bass notice even the smallest of changes in their quiet world. when heavy traffic or fishing pressure occurs, they notice it and turn off. (thanks for letting me tell you what I learned today ;D ) lol
  16. from what I have been readin, bass recognize even the smallest change in their quiet environment. weekend warriors is a huge change, and it makes sense that they would cut off. this book I'm readin says that when fishin high pressured situations. find your good structure, but don't fish the obvious cover. look for one small stump, or a few rocks. maybe one rock. that the bigger fish are more likely to be found there. if usin a depth finder, somethin barely showin up but looks like some sort of cover, is the perfect spot to hit. bein that the structure is right.
  17. matter of fact I was going to ask this same question some time in the future. I don't know how to flip or pitch, but I think I got an idea now. its a great question to ask. 8)
  18. yanno, I call shots quite often. because there are alot of places that look fishy. with lures too, "this lure will catch anything sittin there"... doesn't mean it works for me... lol my biggest thing I'm tryin to overcome is distinguishing one spot from another. cutting out stuff that won't hold fish, but looks like it could. and goin places that actually hold fish. with it bein the summer, and having no depth finder. its much harder to do, because I haven't found many fish on the shallows. except for a few dinks here and there. and goin deep is a major guessing game. (a new battery that holds a charge and the great art of trolling may help some to find good structure) ------------------------------ but back on topic... I was tryin to tell this dude to toss his line in between some thick trees on the bank. this was durin the spawn. he never listened and I was catchin quite a few bass. he was castin somewhere and I told him to watch this... cast between some more small trees, and got lucky (rauls favorite word) catchin a 4lber. he still never listened! stubborn folk. :
  19. perfect example between catching the fish or not catching the fish. you chose to catch it, and I congradulate you.
  20. another reason they throw 'em back is so that they produce spawn with strong survival instincts as they had, meaning better fish with a much better chance to grow big. taking the smaller fish out of the lake is a better way to go. however, congrats on your 9lbers!
  21. don't give into LBH's antics... how do you think his hookers are low budget? ;D I read the "anyone know about musky" line as a joke. or I took it as a joke as well.
  22. I'd try to keep tabs on the barometric pressure. once it starts fallin, from then until it stays steady (whether at low pressure or not) should activate their feeding. since it is a hurricane (or tropical storm, whatever it decides to be at the time), I imagine the barometric pressure starts fallin way before the winds and rain come, sicne its such a big system. so it may start to fall, and stay at a low pressure for some time. some point in there they should start feeding, and I'm guessing it would be once it starts fallin until it has been steady for some time. to find out active they are, start at a quick pace for a retrieve and begin slowing down. if using a spinnerbait, bouncing it on the bottom may work, I'd hit some sort of cover, if they're feedin they'll be in attack mode. steadily retrieve it and as it passes some cover, kill it. I would think a trick worm would be irresistable. retrieving it like tap tap-pause-tap tap tap-pause- and so on.
  23. at dick's I only find white and chartuese spinnerbaits. however, there was two or three different. only one looked decent as a spinnerbait. anyone else find this? I guess I would have to find some skirts to replace them.
  24. well, either they are swalling them lures whole or you're lettin 'em hold it to long. could be something else. how long do you let them have it before you set the hook?
  25. oh god, any newcomers, dont listen to him... put Chris over me any day! lmao ;D
