  1. Any clubs in the Raleigh, North Carolina area?
  2. yep, u caught a bass and when u hooked him, u hooked urself right along with him. hah dude, I realize after a while of tryin to get people to fish with me, that I DONT WANT THEM FISHING WITH ME! either they fish an hour and want to leave. or they lose my lures. or I have to change my strategy of where/how to catch fish to make them happy with how they thing they are going to catch fish. so after a while of this, I am MUCH MORE content fishing by myself. well, that is, when it comes to fishing with weekend warriors instead of everyday fishermen.
  3. abelfisher, now that feeling you got of catching fish. You have to hold on to that feeling, and not let that feeling go, whether your catching fish or not. this is the mindset these people talk about not losing. not letting your mind beat you up. regardless if you catch anything next time u fish. keep this mindset that you have caught fish, therefore, you can catch fish, therefore you will catch fish. again, regardless, whether it makes sense that you should be catchin fish or not. hope I helped some.
  4. thanks tommybass, I think I know what u mean, my deal is knowing whether to fish deep or shallow. not having a depth finder plays a key in fishin deep. in a small lake though, well, I won't try to over think it.
  5. please clue me in on ur results. I just bought it and am pretty happy with it. but I'm not real knowledgable on how to tell good line from bad. heh don't forget to? I didn't know to. thanks for the tip, I'll do it from now on if it makes any difference.
  6. I had great success with tubes and fat ikas. they killed. buzzbaits n etc the bass may have an option. tubes/ikas, etc. u lay it in the bed, the bass will be more reluctant to get it off his/her eggs. makes sense. although, I've found that fishing doesn't make much sense. so try it, may or may not work.
  7. as you see, even purist artificial fishermen talk of tryin shiners. I enjoy a good day of sitting back and tossing out a bobber. There have also been times I haven't caught a lick all day. then again, there are other times I have caught quite a few. especially back in the drinkin days, I couldn't set down my cold one for the hook set of another one. now a days, I enjoy fishin plastics, and when I go out with my dad or friends who aren't as serious, I will buy a dozen or two shiners. but like someone was sayin earlier, u can be serious at fishin and do great with 'em as well. and chris, thats important info that I didn't know about, but now unfortunately, u force me to try to catch shiners! instead of buyin em... lol
  8. I just went fishing last weekend and caught about 20 spawned bass. I used black w/ blue flake fat ikas and yellow w/ silver/gold flake tubes. I was tearin 'em up. look for the beds, and set that bait in their bed, u'll feel a pop, maybe a line move, and know u can set the hook. cruisin bass, or site fishin, is great fun! there's more concentration and tactic that goes into it. I love it. what everyones said might help. try to make the bait look like its tryin to get away, if they're not interested. throw the bait ON TOP OF their HEAD, for a reaction strike! I was readin an article and they said dont cast past them, THROW IT ON THEM. lol go for it, see if it works. and I use 4/0 Gamasuko (sp?) offset worm EWG, or g-lock hooks
  9. I went out fishin sunday. Caught 4 dinks and my dad caught 1. They were all in cover and shallow. SCHOOLS of them. but couldn't catch as many as I wished to catch. donno why they stopped biting. I think it was because I lost 4 lures and started running out of beetlespins. I think the bass at this small lake are starting to spawn.
  10. well, around 6:30 this morning I went out and tossed a top water lure. sat for a second, popped it. and caught a nice bass. then around 2 -3pm, sat and didn't catch a thing until 6ish. but oh well. I'm goin tomorrow some time.
  11. I want to have a small lake in my backyard that's heaven of bass fishing. maybe one day, until then I'ma have to keep goin out to lakes/ponds and tryin to catch fish that I don't even have a depthfinder to see. lol if u get the answer to ur question, PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, let me know please.... j/p man, but there is no 100% way to catch a fish. and I guess I do what u do, take a crankbait to the bank and cast around. if u DO have a depthfinder, pay attention to structure. if u see fish, hell, cast to 'em! lol might be the lure, or ur presentation. hell I can't catch fish, let someone answer u who can.. lmao
  12. no offense taken. I think ur exactly right! I'll change it to.... bassackwards. lmao actually, until I think of a new handle, I'ma change it to that.
  13. d**n, I shoulda copyrighted my idea!
  14. erm... I typed some stuff and it didn't go through, I dont remember/nor feel like typing it all again... ----------------- basically what I said was, I am beginning to think there is some telepathy I am missing in communicating to the fish how good the bait is and how he is going to eat the bait or else die... from something. its a very small pond. there's a stump in one corner, and some laydowns in that same corner under the water. the water is about 2 feet at its deepest. one side has a hole that is causing this. I wanted to get some nice sized bass out and some other fish I may catch and throw 'em in another lake. the pond probly wont last long if we have a drought. then I realized, I am not catching any fish at all. what a realization, its one I have many times a day. but its a really small pond, I must be bumpin these fish in the head. it may be my presentation. I dont know. I work the bait fast/medium speed/very slow. please tell me I am not thinking to the fish right, therefore I am not tempting them to bite the bait. this I can work on. sigh, but please help regardless. this is a problem I deal with everywhere I fish. not just lakes or small *** ponds. ???
  15. so did u try to catch the gator? I bet he'd be a good fight... 8)
  16. d**n, more money I am going to need to spend. ah well, I'ma sell my xbox. speakin of xbox, I have quit playin it for 2 weeks and THERE IS ADDICTION TO VIDEO GAMES! I have INSOMNIA! ack.. anyways, well then heres my next question... if I'm watchin the line for plastics, then how often is it I will be needing to feel the strike that I won't feel when I twitch the rod and move the lure?
  17. yes it does, again, thank you glen. I'd be frustrated, lost, and would break my poles without this site.
  18. gah, I'd like to catch a 3lb bass!
  19. hm. be nice if there was somethin u would slide down ur line and when it hits the bait it would pop it off. until u need it, it would attach to the top eyering. I needa invent that. now those hook rings dont come off with big fish I assume?
  20. RW, thanks man so much. This gives me something to keep myself focused when fishing. I have one question. I have a 6'5" Ugly Stick, I have been wondering the quality of these and their sensitivity to the bite. Now I have really enjoyed fishing plastics, but I cannot say I'm REAL confident with them. I have caught fish on them, and I'm starting to notice the line a bit more. I have always used crankbaits, and am sort of confident with them, but I am more attracted to plastics. Now u were sayin stick with something I'm more used to instead of broading my lure horizon. although I think I'm overthinking this one question, I'll ask it anyway. I got some great plastics, and see no reason for bass not to bite them. now spinner baits I am being more open to using, and have caught fish with them, but I have read somewhere on "how to use them right", and am wonderin if I am not using them right. hah, again, overthinking I think. overall, I think I will just take plastics out and a few side crankbaits (the expensive ones that cost some money and look real impressive) erm... I was thinkin to leave the spinners at home, then I changed my mind. maybe some tips on #5?
  21. well a long time ago I caught this rock bass like 3 or 4 times in a row. at least 3 times.
  22. alright folks... I hope y'all don't get tired of hearin me ask about why I ain't catchin fish. There's a quote that goes like this, "the same mind that created the problem, cannot fix the problem." anyhow, maybe after a while I'll catch on and get the hang (even just a little bit) on fishin... I went fishin in my pond, its a really small small pond, but I put some fish in there and well.. I know there are fish in there. its water level will forever be lower than it normally used to be because water on one side of the pond found its way through and out the other side, now there's a HUGE hole there. ok, so its 12:30 - 1:20pm. -I tried a 6" or 7" zoom cottoncandy/chart tail lizard, weightless. Nothing. -I tried a zoom white pearl fluke/chart tail weightless, nothing. -and then put on a beatle spin with some blue specle/chart tails, nothing. the water is clear, when the wind blows the funk on the top of the water away, hah. like pollen, etc. now, I've caught fish in here last year, on a pumpkinseed lizard by strikeking. and so they bite on lizards. the only thing about it is, the water level is lower now. its warm, plus a small pond, so water temp can't be too cold. I fancasted the whole pond, so I must be running my bait upside their head. I'm taking my time, and as well as fishing the bait quicker. --------------------------------- I'm just wondering if my problem catching fish in lakes may be tied to why I have a problem catching fish in my small *** pond? I don't know, and I could reallllllly use y'alls help.
  23. Taking any donations. ;D any at all... ???
  24. well I think bassmaster named my favorite place/lake to fish now that I hear of something worth fishing. btw, did u mean barton or burton? I have no favorite place to fish. well, this pond by the house, but the lady is old and don't really remember me at the moment, so I haven't bothered to ask. I need somewhere to fish that I can GET TOO! lol, d**n, I gotta go fishin.. been a few days and I got the fever......... (er, I went for about 45 mins today, but that don't count)
  25. carp were trying to get to this dead snake too?
