  1. I look at boats every day on craigslist. Also Facebook marketplace. A lot of stuff can be had.
  2. Just spent 4 days on Table Rock. It was a roller coaster ride including a day where I blanked. Did well Sat, and Sun with a lipless Red Eye Shad in Sexy Shad and a Strike King Painted Blade Spinnerbait 1/2 oz white/sexy shad. The spinnerbait was a slow roll and the lipless was ripping the bait from the bottom and letting the bait flutter back down. I did pick up a few fish on a shaky head. That worked great, until Monday. Monday came we ran to cleaner water, like 12' vis clear. Huge mistake. Tried everything. Finally gave up and ran to water with about 3' vis and had no luck. I blanked on Monday. Tuesday I cut every bait off, tied on a Spook, bone color, a black buzz bait, and a Live Pointer American Shad. Caught fish at the first spot with the Spook and never looked back. Ended up being a solid trip. Nice stick. The net also added a great twist of drama.
  3. If someone invested time in that water prizes can be had. I find the lake to be an amazing swimbait lake. Huge shad out there. Plus, It's 45 mins from my house in Olathe. Once I get a motor on my boat I'll be taking it to work and going directly there to fish, post work. I did notice this year there seems to be less grass in deep water. I winder if the lake was treated? Has anyone been on Middle Creek lately?
  4. Save more money. Shimano Exage with a Tatula SV TWS would be a long time rod. Or buy the reel and strap it on whatever that rod was up there. Don't buy cheaper gear for the sake of having gear. Look on Criagslist for rods.
  5. Does anyone have a review of the rod? I will be tossing smaller swimbaits.
  6. Lake Shawnee put up good numbers, had 3 keepers in the boat, 3 that made it to the side of the boat. The Smallies are coming along. P&M Pacemaker and a Keitech Swing Impact, big square bills. To this day I still love that place. About a month from now it should really be on.
  7. We had a strong early bite. Perfect spot, perfect sun, perfect wind. Other than I couldn't see mt bait due to sun glare and could hear the fish striking at the Spook, but had to wait to feel the fish. Longest 5 seconds of my life.
  8. Anyone willing to make a drive might look at Truman right now. Stuck a lot of fish yesterday. Had 5 keepers. Big worm, big square bill, toss nothing but spooks before 10am. Don't be scared to do all those things around trees in 25 feet of water.
  9. The best bite we find out there is the top self of the channel on the west end, south side. Big Bite rattle tube, most anything with red flake. The water is typically a bit stained and I think that helps a bit.
  10. No reason to go to Melvern other than to mark all the new brush piles.
  11. I bought the boat for the motor/controls. I honestly don't think the boat will sink even it were legal to do so.
  12. I have a boat that was rear ended. The boat is done. Motor and controls are removed. I've listed the boat for free, no takers. Ideas on legally disposing of a boat?
  13. A few teams busted a huge bag at LaCygne last Sat. Big fish was over 7lbs. I had a single. Worked for it too. But, that was the 3rd time I had fished the lake in 8 years. Still a lot of good fishing out there right now.
  14. Anyone know if the motor will lock up if the lower unit locks up?
  15. Me too. I asked the place where the boat was bought what would happen if the water was 45 degrees and I had my grandson. Not much answer. As far as I know I knocked the valve off loading the boat in high winds. The guides are coming off the trailer, no need. I feel like that is what got me.
  16. I'd have to go with no on this. Power-Pole do not require a jack plate.
  17. Do you have a jack plate?
  18. Had an awesome time at Melvern Sunday. * Tried to sink the boat.
  19. **has a little adult language.** Knocked the valve off the bottom of the 16 foot deep V that feeds the live well. Water over my feet by the time the boat was on the trailer.
  20. Stockton lake was a good time this weekend. Fished it Saturday with good results. I caught most of my fish on a jig, the guy in the back a Ned rig. That lake has a nice Smallie population these days. Nice size too. Felt like the old Melvern almost, with fewer bigger fish.
  21. Gravel roads to that lake?
  22. When this thread started Melverd and Cedar were the 2 hot lakes for me. Huge fish in Cedar still BTW. But, like Melvern, not like before. Cedar is on the ropes IMO. I only fish the place maybe 5 times a year now, and most of those days are tough.
