  1. today it was lake wide. the best fish came from the sunken brush and grass out in the middle of the south end. a lot of those.
  2. Olathe Lake is really good right now.caught fish all day.
  3. creature bait plastics fished right on the stained/clean water line in strong wind blown points. 2-5 feet of water. have a shad rap rigged for fish busting on the surface. cranks were for the most part a waste of time otherwise.
  4. we hit Mervern today and did well. took us about 3 hours to figure the smallies out but in the end we had our way. i do admit the place hasnt been as friendly as the last 5 years.

  6. most bait casters will handle 1/4oz baits. the rods are typically what hinder light baits and bait casters. i cant used a spinning reel to save my life, so its a last resort in my boat.
  7. Perry is on fire right now if you dont mind the wind.
  8. its been a blast posting with you guys! my phone number is 913-449-0296, text me well go fishing. email is filsheone@yahoo.com. peace!
  9. i like the blanks. i could never get used to the grip/balance of the rod.
  10. i liked the spinnerbait rod used for light cranks. loved it really.
  11. we caught a lot of small smallies on jerk baits on the back side of the wind. whacked the bigger smallies fishing fat alberts on shaky heads of all things. it took us a while to get on the fish. btw.............hardest wind ive seen anywhere, ever, today.
  12. were going to Melvern Sat. whats the worst that can happen?....heh.
  13. the spool release on your STX should be crisp. that said reels out of the box IMO are not lubed correctly. the difference between NIB and "serviced" is incredible. its well worth the dime to send reels in to the guys on the forum.
  14. thanks for everyones thoughts. REALLY good new late in the week.
  15. id go look at website soft plastics. BPS and TW come to mind.
  16. i love that Falcon rod. IMO the rod is a heavier rod by todays standards, but not tip heavy. i had a 200E5 strapped on the rod and i loved the feel, just not the speed. now i have a Sol on the rod. i throw 5/16 and 3/8 oz baits on the rod, a lot of DT-6's, Risto Raps, Fat Raps, Gerold Swindle Lucky Craft and the Bandit series.
  17. this. the momentum of the boat and a good winch will load 98% of the boats out there.
  18. a guy we know who i talk to a lot just found out his parental unit has Parkinson's disease. now this guy wouldnt bring this up but as a group i would ask that you say a few words now and again. were going to have a small service on the water at Melvern in the morning prior to blast off. thanks guys/gals, i know it would mean a lot.

  20. this. the real question is when do you fully mature. IMO the answer is about 45 years old.
  21. i think those labels are nothing more than a fart in the wind. truth told i though the Wright yellow sticks were a much better rod, but to each their own. i might have liked the series more had i tried a rod under 7'.
  22. im not sure whats up with La Cygne. i used to be ok on that lake but the last few times i was out there fishing was bad. real bad. guess i should be glad though, its put me on Melvern a lot this year.
