  1. Anyone fished Cedar Lake lately?
  2. Rarely ever do I log on to read. For me there's no reason to.
  3. the bass are working wind blown banks with grass @ olathe. we hit a really strong pattern out there.
  4. Zero'd at Kill Creek. The place was packed when we got there, no boating etiquette on the water. The trout were a blast, I wanted to keep them baaaaad. I think lack of shad in the water makes that place impossible in cold water. 53 degrees was the warmest we found. We are doing Gardner tomorrow.
  5. We must have just missed you. We did Kill Creek in the am and Olathe in the pm. Caught trout on square bill at Kill Creek. Was unbelievable. Did real well at Olathe, seen a few eagles. Fished the wind at Olathe.
  6. weather looks perfect if the wind doesnt get over what they advertise. that north bank should be on fire.
  7. The Mel. Working on a trip to Wilson in the next few weeks, that might change a few things. But for now it's Melvern without a second thought.
  8. Not really. My boat is on that water all the time. Loading your boat with the trolling motor is as easy as the gas motor.
  9. going into Arrow Rock boat ramp i think. something to keep in mind if youre going to Melvern.
  10. Kansas side: Shawnee Mission Park Olathe lake Cedar Lake Gardner lake (lots of docks) Kill Creek you should find fish in all of those places. SMP and Kill Creek require Johnson County Parks and rec. passes that can be bought at local WalMarts
  11. Melvern clown stomped us today. without question the biggest waves ive seen in a boat. 7 smallies and god knows how many whites. 1 large mouth.
  12. Without question I believe them.
  13. it drives me crazy to fish the dam @ Melvern. i see the fish you guys catch, i know the area but i cant catch those fish for the life of me. today we caught: drum whites crappie smallies blue cats walleye perch 17 smallies total. 7 were over 15", one was 19". zero @ the dam. at the end of the day we killed the trolling motor batteries fishing shallow, mud stained windy points. had 2 drum break me off before i could give them drag. forgot to put my plug in the boat for the first time ever. oops. seen 3 deer swim across the cove we were fishing. Melvern is just a good place to be.
  14. Melvern is killing it right now.
  15. imo, the biggest results youll see is to clean and properly lube the reel. even out of the box new this makes a difference.
  16. a few things to play with plus some of my sons stuff.
  17. sounds like a scary emergency stop waiting to happen. i traded my V-8 Mercury Mountaineer for an F150 because i couldnt stop my boat well at all. the newer Explorer/Mountaineer might be better.
  18. Down scaling the HP limit will not just affect the motor. The boat, the gear the boat will haul, smaller. Hard sell.
  19. 25 mph winds are like mouthy, know it all teens here in Kansas. Some of the better lakes aren't worth fishing without big winds.
  20. easiest hook removal for me was in the cheek. pushed right out. the worst is always in the fingers. had to have a park ranger help me on that one.
  21. the worst thing they say is not covered. maybe they find the original was defective?
  22. not sure if i make the drive again so soon. it was hard. cold front plus spitting rain hurt the fishing. we ended up drop shotting the main channel on the very west end of the lake. no wind hurts that lake a lot too.
