the ballistics difference between the .308, .270, and the 30-06 can be covered with a dime IMO. the .243 should only be in the hands of a journeyman shooter.

how does the handle spin with the spool disengaged? (button pushed) you say "drag is locked". are you saying you crank the drag star down to max or just to the point where theres enough pressure to make the drive shaft turn the gear?

this. spooling a spinning reel can be tricky so take your time. i find it easier to have a helper and spool from a distance.

i think the best bang for the buck is a lightly used reel that retailed for $100-$170. with some leg work these can be picked up at a fair price. the sad truth is even new reels out of the box often will not work to their full potential before being serviced by a pro.

this, shaky head and a weightless worm.....drop shot....lighter spinner baits. just keep in mind that if you use the rod for single hook application you will want to use small gauge hooks.
