  1. How can you believe this when it is in clear violation of the rules as to how the fish has to be hooked??
  2. Hannon is just sour grapes. He can moan all he wants, but there is a world record and he does not have it.
  3. I interpreted his thoughts for an adhesive was to bolster the strength of the transom. But maybe he wants to seal it against leaks? 32251, What's your goal? Also, If you use a strong adhesive, you might never get the wood off again if you ever need to replace it again. Something to think about. If the wood ever rots like it did when I got this boat, there would be no problem geting it off!! I just wanted to add as much strength as I could. I can see no reason to NOT put some sealant between the wood and the aluminum. I was going to use some construction adhesive like liquid nail for a strong bond. I am using some very nice mahagony plywood that I have had for a long time.
  4. I am going to use the nuts and bolts also. Just wondered about sealing the back of the wood with some adhesive sealant like a good grade of Liquid nail.
  5. Bad for the fish to be laying on the ground. Come on.
  6. I am replacing some transom wood. Thought about running a bead of liquid nail on the backside of the wood to seal it against the aluminum. Any thoughts yes or no on doing this.
  7. I had all three models and enjoyed them. Had a bad experience with a hole in the seam of one of them, but Sea Eagle sent me a brand new one. If you have a couple of hundred bucks, you can find a beater jon boat on Craigslist. I just missed one for $50.
  8. THANK YOU!!! Email or Private mail if you would please! Whatever you have I will take it!!! Wow.
  9. I have an old Grumman row boat that I want to pimp out with a bimini top. The boat is your perfect old vhull with an absolutely flat bottom. Good for just rowing around or a small motor and I want some shade on it! Any one have a line on a smaller top that would work on a side to side span of about 51-55inches. I can see me now!! Made in the shade. Trying to keep hooks out of it!
  10. I picked up an aluminum 12 ft Vhull boat that has a dented in section across the hull right about where the vhull section starts to flatten out. Looks like something fell right across the boat as it was laying flat with the hull up. The keel strip is dented in along with the stringer on the inside of the hull. Seams and rivet heads have been caulked up to stop leaking and used like this for 9 years, but looks pretty unsightly and surely the water flow under the boat is affected by this dented in area. In order to straighten this out I would have to remove the seat (not a hard job at all) that is right over the dented area and start pounding from the inside. I have had very good results with a rubber hammer pounding out dents in the hull of one of my other aluminum boats, but I have not attempted to straighen ribs and keel strips which basically would just require hitting harder! Do you think I might do more harm than good straightening out these aluminum sections?? There are not any "creases" in the aluminum. I don't mess with those as the creased area has a tendency to crack open when you try to tap it back flat. What do you think?
  11. Thank you for your suggestions and your help. I am going to use the can spray on bedliner for the boat bottom. It is so bad you would not believe it. The can spray is more slick than the quart size with the spray gun. The sand aggregate is larger when using the gun. Maybe this will give me some sealing I need on the boat bottom. I will not use it inside the boat or on the outside top part, just the very bottom.
  12. He summed it up when he said "the tournaments "drive" the industry".......I hate the bass "industry". He is a nice enough fellow, but I would like to see a tournament where they are in ratty jon boats with NO electronics and a couple of used fishing rods with only a few lures/plastics to pick from......sort of like my fishing trips. 8-)
  13. OK so let me get this straight. Did you sand the aluminum inside with 120 paper and prime that with the Krylon and THEN spray on the bed liner and then paint over that with the latex? Latex was rolled on?? Or are you saying that you applied the bed liner and then later sanded that with 120 and primed over the bed liner with Krylon primer and THEN applied the latex? Also tell me about your prep for the bed liner. Thanks.
  14. How did you apply the bed liner product? Also most come in black. Did you paint over the black.
  15. Nice. I would settle on mine looking the way your boat looked BEFORE you did it!! 8-) The only thing I can see that would not work for me here is the black interior would be unbearable in the 90+ days we have here in the summer.
  16. Hey the camo thing might be an idea!! Boat is already dark green. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JUtKeWzM3pA The size and shape of my boat is identical to the one on Youtube.
  17. Bought a $100 vhull jon boat. cosmetically ugly, but after spending a few hours with a rubber hammer and some hearing protectors it looks MUCH better and will serve the purpose of leaving at the lake and hoping no one will steal it. It is just about ugly enough that dishonest folks might not have any interest in it 8-) Has several coats of paint on it and many scratches down to the aluminum. I just want to remove the flaking paint, lightly sand it, clean the surface and then paint it. I don't want to hook up my spray gun and do all of that.....just get some paint on it....I don't care if it is just cans of spray paint from the hardware store. I know that the best way is to strip it down and get the aluminum oxide primer and the expensive marine paint, but I just cannot do it. Anyone here have any luck with some simple spray paint. What brands, what primers??? Thanks.
  18. If you don't mind, I am going to "borrow" your transducer mount design...thank you.
