These things are ridiculous...
Rubba Bubba your not getting it. I get what your saying loud and clear. My point and many others point which you keep missing is that with a swimbait especialy, and even other baits to, is that you CAN judge a bait by its realism and action. ANYBODY who is seasoned in a certian technique can look at a wall of lures and pick out good ones even if he hasnt fished them yet. I gauantee KVD can judge a spinnerbait based on itc components. I am sure a ggod jig man can look at a bunch of jigs and tell you why one is better than another. This new unproven to you swimbait incorperates proven designs. The 2 joint lippless swimbait is a proven fish catcher. The bait being realisticly correct only enhances it. AND the last point that you keep forgetting is that even though YOU dont know it will catch fish, I DO KNOW that it already has. Plus my customers know that I take the time to make sure my baits get bit and get the right bites. If I make something and I cant catch big fish on it then it dies. If my my friends cant get bit on it then I change it untill they do. Your entire point was that you and others would not be willing to pay a premium bassed on the cosmetcs and action of a bait. You want to hear from guys who have fished it. WELL if I release something then it has been tested and it does its job. tyrius is also absolutley correct. I just released this bait. I only have about 5 of these out there being tested so your not going to hear much about them catching fish yet. Look I understad being scepticle. I am also that way. I do not buy gimmiks and there are definatley things I will not buy untill I have heard that they perfrom like they are supossed to. But when it comes to fishing lures I can pick out a lure based on how it looks in the hand and in the water and know it will produce. Maybe its because I have been fishing for 30 years ? I can honestly say that I have not been wrong when I thought a bait would produce in the last 10 years. Now I have been wrong a couple times when I thought something wouldnt work and it did. For me thats when I rely on reveiws from others.

Sorry- from post below -When I miss a good fish-I yell #*&%^
I ususly start to say something bad and then I remember I am a God fearing man and I catch myself. So I sound like a mumbling idiot when I miss a fish or loose a big one. Maybe I will just steel "dozer". Nah it is prety dorky! Sorry Bobby

These things are ridiculous...
rubba bubba Ok there is a differnce between real swimbaits and other baits when it comes to correct detail, color and action. The guys that fish with swimbait and catch fish understand this and that is why they would buy an expencie bait based on what they see. Let me explain. An expensive crankbait with a beautiful and possibly realistic finish is not realistic. It doesnt swim like a real fish and in most cases it isnt shapped like a real fish. They dont have fins and other details that fool the bass into thinking they are eating a reay prey fish. Bass eat them out of a reaction. This is the same thing with just about all hard baits. The difference with a good (ususly expencive) swimbait is that it actualy looks like a real fish, swims like a real fish and the color patern is accuratley represnting the prey species that it is supossed to be. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO when you see a good swimbait that looks like a real fish and swims like a real fish with the proper coloration it will get bit. It will produce. The guys who consistantly catch fish on swimbait know this. This is why they can look at pics and see some video and have instant confidence knowing the bait catches fish. The first time I saw a Hudd and threw it out I knew it was going to be a great producer. I just knew PERIOD! Big bass are fish eaters. If they are feeding on trout or gills or shad and you give them a bait that REALY matches those prey species you will get bit. Again a crankbait painted like a trout doesnt even come close to matching a trout. A spinnerbait, or jig, or crankbait, or plastic worm in "bluegill" color, doesnt even come close to matching a real gill. You can take the best photo finish and put it on a crank bait but its still a reaction bait. Most swimbaits are fished slowly. they fish get a real good look at the bait before they eat it. The more realistic it is the better chance that fish is going to eat it. I have caught several GIANT bass deadsticking a floating swimbait. I do nothing but moniter my slack. The baits sit and bob and swim in the slightest ripple. I have wittnesses huge bass come right up under the baits and sink back down several times only to absolutly crush it after another 5 minutes of it sitting there doing nothing. The realism of the bait caught those fish. rubba bubba when you make a comparrison between real swimbaits and other types of baits you are comparring apples to oranges. It doesnt work the same. now the general argument is well, I caught a 5lber on a storm bait or paddle tube so matt's realism theory is wrong. Of course this is just stupid. Its like saying I dont need a hammer to hit in these nails, I can do it with a rock. Yes a rock will hit in the nails but the hammer will do a much better job.

These things are ridiculous...
Thanks again guys. I designed my swimbaits for targeting big bass, and I use them to target the biggest bass in the lake. Of course by doing this I do not catch tons of fish but I have caught monsters. If you want to catch numbers by all means buy some Ragetail baits.Actualy you should buy them anyways. They are awsome. I use them myself and I catch fish on them. For me I use my swimbaits to target trophies and use soft plastics to target a lot of bites. Yes they can get a big bite too but I use them to get me a lot of bites. Different tools for differnt jobs. Every single bait made will catch a fish if you fish it long enough. when I test my baits I make sure they get the right kind of bites, BIG bites. I will not sell a bait that does not do its job. I am not a salesman and I dont hype things up. I just make my baits and then offer them for sale. I do not advertise or spam websites, its just not my stlye. Raul thanks for the props, however I dont want to grow my buisiness into a huge company. Too many headaches. Right now its just big enough that I am content. AS far as a weedless bait goes I will get to that. what would you like to see as far as stlye and species? Lastley to some $50 is a good deal and to others its too much for a lure. I understand and this is a whole other subject that has been debated over and over. Quality vs quantity, you get what you pay for etc. I make specialized tools for specific aplications and they work. I set my prices as low as I can and still make it worth my time. There have been times I could have gouged my customers for a little more $ but I would rather not do that. I try to make them affordable enough so that as many fisherman as possible can have them if they choose to. PS. I seriously do recomend the rage baits. My favorites are the Shad and the Anaconda.

Thanks for the kind words fellas. I would not sell a bait that I hadnt tested and have caught fish, BIG fish. They get bit.

How to bend TITANIUM wire ???
fishingdanderson is absolutley correct. I have changed out worn buzzer blades on a titanium wired buzzer. Heat up the wire red hot where you want to bend it then, bend it how you want it and let it cool down or cool it in water.

who is the best pro bass fisherman in the US?
Mike Long He has many lake records. He has caught more documented bass over 15 lbs then anybody. I think is up around 60 He dominates the So Cal Tournament scene and he ofter wins team tournaments fishing by himself. After Mike would be KVD, Skeet , Ike and Aaron followed by the first generation of big pros Clunn ,Roland and Dance.

Update on the Japanese world record bass 8/25
Matt Fly, no the delaware site was not the 1st or 2nd or 3rd. I actualy signed up on his sight to give him this latest info so he could post it but for some reason I cant seem to contact him. I tried to contact himthrough the other sites he posted on but he has been removed from many of the sites he posted on. He was basicaly reclycling info from other sites. He did however contact sombody from Japan (I think from the JGFA)and got some good info. He is also very adamant about not wanting this fish to be the record. The red marks and nets etc is rumorous and I dont think its right to accuse Kurita of cheating. I did make a statement on another board replying to his net marks post in which I said it is also possible that the fish could have escaped from a net and those marks were the battle wounds. However there is no proof at all that some marks on a fish were caused by a net. there are many things that could have caused them. I am sure we have all caught some fish with marks on them. I feel bad for Kurita. I think if I ever caught the world record I would have to turn off my computer for ever. I just dont know if it would be worth it. I hope Kurita does not get screwed out of the record. IMO if he passes a lie detector then he should get the record. WRB I push the bouy lines with my trolling moter all the time None of my lakes have bouyed off spwning areas, prety much just the dam areas are bouyed off.

Update on the Japanese world record bass 8/25
My source Greg Vella was the first person to report the Japanese bass to united states, hours after it was caught on site called bloodydecks. He has also been the most accurate regaurding all the details. He lives in Japan and has fishing related buisinesses over there. I dont know if he is a memebr of the IGFA. I dont realy care if he is. He has been the first to report on this fish and the first to report on updates and so far all of his info has been accurate with one exception. On one of his first updates, he reported the fish was caught on a koi. This was inccorect, as we now know it was bluegill. I sent him an email asking about the catch and he has been keeping me updated ever since. Because he once lived in CA Muddy probably hates him to ;D I believe this info to be accurate that is why I posted it. If I thought it was spreading rumors or being negative towards Korita I would not have posted it. As far as bouy lines and off limits areas go that is a grey area. I do not know how it is in Japan but in the lakes I fish there are bouy lines preventing boats from entering certain areas of the lakes. These are mostly to keep baots away from the dams. Eveybody casts over the bouy lines and I have never heard of anybody being told not to. I have even asked rangers and they said as long as you(go around on shore) or your boat does not cross the line then you are fine. We are allowed to cast over the bouy lines though. However the launch ramps are different. They rarley let you fish them and there are usualy y signs saying not to, plus the rangers will tell you not to fish there.

Tournament Fishing vs. Trophy Fishing
Bigtime, probably because its the biggest T out west and Mead is Ginormous. Its also very close to Vegas. It works well for hosting huge tournaments. Its just tough fishing. I predict the winning weight will be around 30 lbs for 3 days. Natural in a T setting that is absolutel incredible. with the clock and tons of other guys against you that is a hellov an acomplishment and a testament to the lake. I have had a few days where myself and a friend have caught 50+lb 5 fish limites but never on a crowded lake or in a tournament setting and never by myself. Those guys are good and yes I keep strange late hours
-
Tournament Fishing vs. Trophy Fishing
8lbs for 5 fish each of the 3 days for a total of 24lbs will put you towards the top and possibly be enough to win. The US open is on lake Mead. Mead is know for its small bags and many anglers do not catch a limit. It doesnt sound like a lot of fun

Update on the Japanese world record bass 8/25
I remember reading a few articles on the bass in Japan a couple years ago. This is what I remember. There are a lot of comercial fisherman in Japan. A lot of these are poor older people with nets who catch fish for a living. There are many species of fish in their lakes and the comercial fisherman target them even the small ones that the bass feed on. Some time ago the older generation complained about the bass and bluegill destroying ther natural populations of their different species of fish. Even though some have been proven to be on the decline because of the many dams that have changed the river systems. The government agreed with the older generation. The bass and the bluegill are the scapegoats and they are blammed for dropping population of certain fish. The younger generation want the bass to stay and so do all the bass fishing tackle companies in Japan. A few years ago they made it illegal to release a bass or bluegill unless you have a special permit. Aparently Kurita has a permit but if the Japanese government does not want the bass to get any posative press then I dont like his odds.

Update on the Japanese world record bass 8/25
The IGFA rules are clear on this one. All records must be in accordance to local laws. If the JGFA says the catch was illegal then that will be the end of it. If it was the USA the angler could probaly take it to court and fight it and let the courts decide if he broke any laws or rules, but this is Japan. Also this did not come from CA it came from Japan. I simple copied and paisted the email. In all honesty I would like the record to stay in the USA. However I dont think the record should be stollen away from Kurita. I think he caught it fairly and I think he should be rewarded the record. I think he is getting screwed. The USA (mainly CA) has had a few oportunities to beat the Perry bass and we have blown it every time. It serves us right that another county is now producing giants.

Update on the Japanese world record bass 8/25
Nope wrong Muddy. I actualy think he should get the record. I am in no way trying to discredit it. Your also wrong about the JFGA and the IGFA, In order for the IGFA to accept a record it has to be in accordance with all local regulations. Basicaly the JFGA has to aprove it before the IGFA will. This is why the IGFA has not even recieved the aplication yet and probably wont. Japan is also different then the USA. they have a much tighter controll over its people. If the government says NO then its NO. I dont know why you insist its a CALI thing?????? I am simply giving the latest update that was given directly to me. My source was also the first to report the catch to the US and he has benn accurate with all the details. He is not happy with the way it is going either. He want Kurita to get the record. Sooooo Muddy I do you like you but your wrong calling me on this one. I think Kurita should be awarded the the record as long as he passes a lie detector. However it apeares that he wont get that far. I think o'l George Perry put a curse on the record before he died.

Update on the Japanese world record bass 8/25
Here is an email I recieved from a very reliable sorce. He lives in Japan and ownws a tackle store there. his name is Greg Vella I have come to the conclusion that Japan will probably not allow the big bass to become a record (JGFA). There is just too much (political)[ch12288]at stake, with the recent push to make all of Japan "catch and kill" for bass and bluegill. The Japanese government has spent millions of dollars on this program, which includes supplementing the income of the commercial fisherman at Lake Biwa. > Letting Mr. Kurita's fish become the new Japan record (JGFA) will send the wrong type of message to the taxpayer, and draw unwanted attention to the positive aspects of bass fishing. > > Here is where we stand: > > I mentioned before a about the distance from the bridge restriction ( the bass was caught near the Biwako Bridge)--It seems that his boat was not within the restricted area, but now they are saying they are going to DQ him because he CAST into the restricted area (which is not legally a "restricted" area anyway). I don't understand? Lake Mission Viejo has a 20 foot from the dock no fishing zone, but that means your boat must not be withing 20 feet when fishing, not your cast. Another example would be the buoy line at Perris, or Casitas. As long as your boat is outside the buoy line, you can cast wherever you want. > This is weak. > > What is weaker is that they are now saying the he "broke the law" to catch the fish due to his bait (a bluegill). Bluegill are not illegal to be used for bait (nobody cares), but they are illegal to release back into the lake alive. The bass "No Release" law includes bluegill and everybody is aware of this due to posted signs all over the lake. But they are now saying that Mr. Kurita "released" a bluegill back into the lake when he pinned it on his hook, and tossed it in front of the giant bass. > > This is really pushing it, IMO. > > What they don't know, and I just found out today, is that Mr. Kurita is registered, like I am, to be able to release bass and bluegill. > > Even so, I sure they will make up something else; they do not want this fish to become a record, because: > As of two days ago, the paperwork has not even been submitted to the IGFA. > JGFA is saying that it must pass their scrutiny before he is "allowed" to submit to the IGFA; it should not be this way, as the IGFA is a separate entity. > It seems it is catch 22 for Mr. Kurita. > > There is so much misinformation going around that it is sad, at best. The same type of people that said the Biwa Lake grow fat on all the salmon (there are none) are giving opinions on stuff they know nothing about. > > Hope all is going well for you, > Capt. G

Things I learned from Japanese interview
MattFly you havent looked very hard. 1 article has been written from San Diego. I have heard from several very credible sources and they werent from CA. In fact 3 of them were from Japan. The article in the san diego tribune was reporting from info recieved at Icast. The rumors are not coming from CA. they are coming from Japan and they are being spread by guys who want the record to be rejected. The rumor spreaders are from all over the states

Tournament Fishing vs. Trophy Fishing
Another difference is how hard they work. If you watch KVD he makes 1000's of cast each day. He is a machine. He covers so much water. He is playing the percentages. If he makes 500 casts and his oponent makes 300 he has an advantage. This is not true when hunting. Now there is a difference in which baits you use. When throwing swimbaits I only make a few well planned out casts to each spot. If I am stitching a wom or jig I will stay on a spot much longer. If you know your spot holds big bass then you can wait them out with a bait with almost no negative ques like a worm or jig or live bait. You might fish by them for hours and then they turn on or you might fish a spot for hours with no fish there but you know the big ones will be there sometime that day. You just wait them out. Another huge differnce is I like to get out of my boat to sneak up to fish, cant do that in a T

Things I learned from Japanese interview
George, Thank you sir. Glenn there are some(not me) that hate the idea that the record could be taken to Japan. They are are the ones spreading the rumors. I have heard many of them like the "restricted area". I have several contacts that I have asked and it seems like their rules are a little different then ours. They have areas that are open to recreational fisherman but are off limits to tournaments. It sounds like he did nothing wrong. some are claiming the fish was caught in a net because it had sores on it. Well the fish very easily could have survived an incounter with a net and has a few scares to show from it. When the aplication is submitted to the IGFA a polygraph test will be mandatory. If he passes it then that should be good enough to sqaush all the rumors. Its sad that people are so jelous that they have to spread rumors. It seems now a lot of guy want the record to stay. Remember for a long time its been the FL GA boys who have treid to discredit the big bass from CA. Truthfully NO CA bass has ever been submitted which should be the record. A couple were caught but they didnt meet the requirements. I will not spread rumors about this new record bass. I will wait and see how the IGFA rules. It is an incredible achievement. I am hoping that the record does stay here but I would rather one of us catch one bigger and bring the record back then have the Japan one disqualified over a technicality. We will all just have to wait and see, no sense in spreading rumors.

Using silicone for a mold to pour lead
silicone will work fine for lead but you have to use platinum cure silicone. You also need to get a very firm silicone. Tin cure will not last long and it will distort. You will also need to build a good mold that is rienforced because even a good platinum silicone will want to distort after you pour a bunch of lead through it. One little tip, dust your mold with talc powder and the lead will pour much easier. I pour a bunch of talc in a sock and then zip tie it. I tap the pouch against the mold after each pour.

Tournament Fishing vs. Trophy Fishing
I have never fished a freshwater bass T but I have fished saltwater T'S there are huge differences on how you apraoch them. In a T it you against other anglers and the clock. Time management and getting a limit are crucial. When hunting, its you against the fish. You set your own times and fish at your own tempo with your own rules. The biggest difference in the two besides actualy fishing, is choosing where to fish. In a T, you go where ever the T is sheduled. When hunting you pick the days, times and lakes you feel gives you the best shot at a big bass. I almost always try and go on weekdays to avoid the crowds. I also try to avoid lakes the are having T's or are being prefished for a T. Choosing the right when and where are HUGE. You dont get to choose those when T fishing. Also when I am just fun fishing (or if I was fishing in a T) I like company. But when I am hunting I preferr to do it alone. I like having a friend at the same lake but not fishing next to each other. One other big difference is when T or fun fishing I like to move up on a spot and disect it. I will throw several differnt baits and fan cast a large area. When hunting I am much more deliberate. I dont want a fish to see my bait getting closer to them with each cast. I want a couple perfect casts on each known spot and then I move on. If a monster bass sees a swimbait swim by over and over agin from a distance then by the time you cast it in its strike zone the fish is already suspicious. If you sneak up and make a perfect presentation on the first cast chances are the fish will be in a much more receptive mode.
