  1. No Shanner the pic is not Perry period. There is no suggestion. It is simply not him. Shoadows etc. that is a differnt man and that is undisputed. It simply is not Perry in that picture. FACT.
  2. I was just pointing out a fact. I did not say he was lying. Perry wasnt that old at the time Ray Scott wanted the test Perry died at 61. Perry not taking the test does not make him guilty. It is possible that he was insulted. I wasnt there. I wish he would have taken the test though. It might have cleared up things one way or another. I honestly dont know how I feel about the record. One day I think its a lie and another day I think it maybe legit. I have wrapped my head around it many times and I have for the most part let it go. The article suporting the picture is rediculous. They clam the picture is legit by two palm trees in the background. Now if there was a building then that would be believable. I could go on and on and write a 10000 word post with a ton of evidence against the record, but I dont want to. In the end I am still not 100% possative. How do I know thats not Perry in the pic? well because its not. Perry was much younger then that at the time and there are plenty of pictures of Perry and thats not him. Am I saying that not Perry's fish? No I am not because it could be. All I am saying is that nobody knows who the people are in the pic. And they are just geussing at where the picture was taken. It could be legit but it is far from fact or proof. Here is a real picture of Perry. He submitted this fish and won the Field and stream prize again. Acording to Perry and Field and stream this fish weighed an incredible 13lbs 14oz Matt, I do not think your post is fair. You choose not to believe it the record I have zero issues with that. I personally could care less if the record is valid or not because it will never impact my like, but to say that because Perry elected not to take a polygraph test somehow casts doubt is just wrong. Did Scott disclose to Perry that a polygraph was going to be part of the interview? If he did not fully disclose the intentions of the interview process at the very least it would be human nature to feel like you were being forced to prove your innocence. If someone were to pull a stunt like that on my 84 year old grandfather from Cordele, GA they would be lucky to only get thrown out on their backside and I would bet good money that a shotgun would be at least seen.
  3. Yes George but death does not make a man honest either. I will add this one little tidbit. While Perry was alive, Ray Scott (founder of bass) sent a guy to do a polygraph test on Perry. Do you think he took the test? No Does that prove he was lying? No interesting though.
  4. The record fish exists but I doubt any fish maintanes record weight throughout the year. There are probably 2-3 fish on the planit that will get to or over 22lbs durring the spawn. Then they need to eat something and keep it down after you catch them. And You actualy have to catch them!!! It aint happening this year. All the potential lakes that have giant fish are done for the year. Maybe next year. No 20's this year either. I except Perry's record because it is the mark to beat. I do not totaly belive it but I except it. If one were to research it thouroghly it becomes extremely difficult to believe. There are gaping holes in the "evidence" and way more then enough reasonable doubt. Hannon has good reason for his opinion. My opinion is, whats the point? seriously. I believe it was possible, (doubtful) but possible. I know the number to beat and I know the guys who are chasing it. None of them are all that old and they dont seem to be slowing down. If the fish is out here, one of them will get it.
  5. I dont know if I believe it or not but I hate it when somebody posts that picture and says "here is the pic with Perry's bass" THATS NOT PERRY IN THE PICTURE !!!!!!!! tHERE IS ABSOLUTLEY NO PROOF THAT IS PERRY'S FISH. PERIOD!!!!!! Somebody found that pic when their aunt died and suposedly she knew some of Perry's relatives so they make the huge leap and assume that is Perry fish. I repeat, that is not Perry in the picture!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nor has that picture evr been authenticated.
  6. It aint the boat. I now fish out of a nice big bassboat. Mike Long does and so does John Kerr. I do disagree with FC on them being a gass guzzler. They are only bad on gass if your going supeer fast. My boat will go scarry fast but I dont like to run that fast. I usualy go around 40-50mph and I dont go through that much gas. Its how you run your boat. A nice big boat for the most part is an advantage. I can store more stuff and keep it out of my way. If I have to make a longer run or if the water is rough I am much more comfortable. I have owned a 16ft aluminum and it did the job but it is not as comfortable or as stable as a big glass boat. I did get a plain colored one and I wont put any stickers on it. I want as little atention as possible while I am on the water. I also agree with WRB, before I started selling baits I took pictures but mainly just for me, I only showed my closest friends. Now I show alot of people but I try to make it hard to tell where I was at. As for guys lying about their fishes weights, that has always bothered me. I weight just about every fish I catch unless of course its not worthy.
  7. 7in hand poured curl tail texas rigged with 1/8th plastic worm in a few different colors. has caught the most fish for me. cinamon blue, purple neon blue and chocolate neon blue. original silver and balck 3in rapala has probably caught the 2nd but they bwere almost all small fish my gills have caught most of my big fish
  8. Bass are not built for extended speed but they do have bursts of power where they excelerate very fast. They can overtake thier prey and your bait if they want it no matter how fast your working it. I am sure if the bas wanted too it could beat your bait in a race. However workin a bait as fast as you can may not be your best presentation but there are a few times where a fast retrieve works good.
  9. So Cal has the biggest bass in the world and the best weather. Some of the hottest women and we do have an ocean with tons of awsome fishing. Everything else sucks. Super expencive, most presured lakes in the country, laws and rules for everything, and everybody is in a hurry. The traffic sucks people are rude and the hunting sucks. I still will probably never move but when I hunt out of state and see how nice people are and how real they are it can be tempting.
  10. The entire spawn fishing game is a process of elimintion. There are many factors in each chess match. It all starts with your aproach but there are alot of other things that you can do wrong or wright. I see soo many guys that keep doing the same thing without getting posative feedback. Its actualy a simple process. If something is working keep doing it. If something is not working do something else. If something spooks them or you get a negative responce DONT DO IT AGAIN. Eventualy you will learn to read the fish and you will know from thier body language what is a posative and a negative and a non responce. The biggest mistakes I see guys make are #1 they set up bad. and #2 the get no responce but they keep doing what they are doing. Each fish is different and Johns article is a general guide and a very good one at that but as you and I both know there are always exceptions. Thats what makes it soo challenging.
  11. alright since you dont want to play I'll give you the answer. You probably already knew it. The most important thing is how you set up on the bed. Before you ever start you need to let the fish be as comfortable as possible. This is what John was talking about when he said blocking thier escape route. If you position your self badly you have greatly reduced your odds before you even start. I can get you an autograph from Mike and John but JaY and Chris might as well be in TX. CA is a big state and they are no where near me.
  12. But I did get them all right. read the wording of #4. Answering true does not make it wrong. Your explanation just meand there are times when her spot is different then his. BTW John is my friend and we fish the same lakes and tip each other off. We also compare notes about bed fishing . I am not as good as he is though. He can see better then anybody else I have ever seen. He has bionic super sight. John gave away alot of good tips in this article but he still kept a few secrets Also I have a question for you. of all your questions which is the most important?
  13. 1.F 2. A and B 3. F. you use the male to get the female hot. 4. T 5. T kind of. You can guage a little from color but you can tell more from behavior 6. T 7. T 8. This depends. Water clarity is the most important but pressure will push the bigger fish to spawn deeper 9. A and then B 10. T What do I win Paul
  14. FC I know EXACTLY how you feel. I had those same conditions last week at lake down here and I passed on to 7ish lbers and never found a better fish. Later on I saw boats on both of them. But I didnt go there to catch a 7lber. Mike L called me and had caught a 17.11 the day before so I was hunting. When they get around the 8-9lb mark those are tougher for me to pass up. I know if I do somebody else will be on them later. I make the decision based on the time and lake.
  15. Thanks for posting Randall. That sure didnt take you long. I have caught bass with tails in thier mouths before. I have found that this usualy happens durring the active feeding time. What I mean is, they will feed and stuff themselfs and then they go rest and digest and they do not bite then. Even if they can fit another fish in thier gut, once they settle into digesting mode they become very sluggish for a day or two. Now I only see this with big bass and very large prey. but while they are in the gorging mode they can and will eat what they can fit in thier mouths.
  16. Of all the hollow tube baits The original Basstrix is the best. also look at 3:16 mighty minnows. Very nice little baits
  17. Tarpon and bass in the same water? COOL! if hats the case I might be a little bummed to hook a bass instead of a tarpon. Thats a good bass though, thanks for posting
  18. Oh man I didnt notice the Hat, ha ha You guys must HATE my chargers!!! probably as much as I hate the Pats. It seems the Colts cant beat the Bolts, and the Bolts cant beat the Pats. Sorry for the hyjack. Congrats again on a beautiful fish.
  19. Judging from the weight and the pictures I would say she was about 23 1/2 - 24 length by 19 - 20 girth. yeah I know that will come out heavy on the calculator but I have weighed enough big fish to know the calculator isnt always right. Anways you can still get a replica that is very close just by the pictures and weight. A knowledgable taxidermist will have a many sources for replicas to choose from and based on the pic and weight should be able to match your fish. BTW congrats on joining the club !
  20. Urban why not contact a local taxidermist who does skin mounts. I would imagine he would have a lot of dead bass for you to get "parts" out of?
  21. I would catch him the smallest one that meets his criteria
  22. Thank you Mam.
  23. Glenn we all apreciate the job you do. You are the man. Lane I am curious. Is it possible to svae the deep caught saltwater fish with their eyes popped out and stomachs sticking out of thier mouths? I am guessing no but I would like to hear your opinion on it Thanks Matt
  24. As far as "real" swimbaits go the Hudds are durable. The little 6in bait will get big bites and the 8in will get some small bites. If your rod will only handle the 6 then get the 6. Its a good bait
  25. Cali has 1 bass species that no other state has. Calico bass and there are FUN!!!
