  1. I am plenty happy with the Symetres that I have now, best spinning reel under $100. If Shimano adds the S-R Concept to them, they will be the best spinning reel for $100.
  2. OK, I love my Carrot. I use it for all kinds of baits, it's a great all-purpose rod. The sensitivity is excellent and it is super light. I actually like the guides. But with all of this I now have an issue/problem. The finish has the worst durability I have ever experienced. I have only had the thing a couple of weeks, maybe, and the D**N finish is already coming off. Has anyone else had this issue with the finish? Did I get a Lemon? Should I contact E21?
  3. Thanks for the advice guys. Mike, that St.Croix would be nice, but I have a G.Loomis Greenwater that fits the bill. I was just trying to justify another Carrot. Anyway, I rarely use spinning tackle. I also have a little issue with my Carrot.
  4. I am with Raul and RW on this, is it worth the $100? I have four flavors of G.Loomis; GL2, Mossyback, IMX, and GLX. I love my GLX, but I don't think I'll get another one. I am perfectly happy with IMX. I would rather spend the $100 on Fluorocarbon line and baits.
  5. I have one. I love it. I plan to own more in the near future.
  6. Jackall Aragon SSR(red craw and chartruese/purple back) Lucky Craft Fat BDS 2(ghost minnow and chartruese/blue back) Jackall Aragon SR(red craw and tennessee shad) In that order
  7. Check out the Abu Garcia Black Max(49.99) and Silver Max(59.99)at ***. I have had both of these and for the money they are excellent reels. Another option is the Quantum Accurist II CX(aluminum frame is a plus), these can be found for $30-$50 dollars, since Quantum is discontinuing the model. I have three of these and they are great reels. There are other brands out there, but these are the only ones I have experience with.
  8. I emailed E21 tonight about the LTX in saltwater. While doing a search relating to Carrot/SW, I found several rumors of an inshore Carrot that may be at ICAST. That would be sweet. I have several inshore rods already, mostly BCs. I want a MH spinning and like the Carrots so well that I thought it could double in salt. I think I'll wait and see what E21 says and ICAST reveals. I am heading to the Gulf next week, so I guess I'll just have to take my Greenwater.
  9. Why not saltwater? Is it the SS guides? I have a couple of older surf rods with SS guides that have never been a problem. I use mono and flouro only, no braid.
  10. I am so happy with my BC Carrot that I am thinking about a spinning Carrot. We had a garage sale this weekend and I sold a ton of unused fishing gear. Now I have about $250 to spend on a new combo. I also want the rod to double as a inshore/saltwater rod. The two I am considering are the 7'3" MH fast and the 7'2" MH fast drop shot, paired with a Shimano Symetre 2500 or 4000. I only own 1 MH spinning rod and it is a fiberglass catfish rod. Does anyone have any experience with these Carrots? Would I be better off getting a Medium power?
  11. I would suggest the Premier or Triumph. My family gave me a Triumph TRS60LF(6' Light Fast) for Father's day and I absolutely love it. I like the L over UL, because sometimes you might get something a little bigger. My daughter and I were bluegill fishing Friday with worms and bobbers, and a LM got hold of mine. The Light action gave me a little more fighting power, so I landed the worm-eating bass easily, he weighed 2#5oz.
  12. I know this is not a religious forum, but I am asking for prayers for a friend and co-worker. I just got back home a couple of hours ago, and heard the news that a 5 year old boy had been killed at an airshow. The name was given out and I recognized the name. I called the Shift Manager at the plant and he confirmed that it was our co-worker's son. The boy was killed when a "microburst" wrecked havoc on the tents and a generator fell on him. The father's hands are seriously injured and the hospital is treating him and his wife. I have not had the opportunity to speak to him, and have no idea what to say. This family has been through alot the past few years. All I can do right now is pray for him and his family. I ask that ya'll please do the same.
  13. I feel your pain. Jigs and tubes are the bain of my fishing experience.
  14. Congratulations on being Smoke-Free, I am getting close to the 9-month mark myself. I have 4 Citicas and absolutely love them. I have Abus, Quantums, and a couple of Daiwas, but the Citicas are my go to reels. My .02 go for the Citica, too.
  15. Thanks sneaker, I just got back from Walmart with a new 40# Endura. It was $164.75.
  16. I carry more colors of worms than I do with most of my plastics. I usually have 8-10 colors, from natural to wild.
  17. Congratulations on a getting a great boat. I fished out of a kayak most of the time, until I got used to my little 12 footer. Now my yak hangs in the garage.
  18. Well, I am now in the market for a new trolling motor. Last night, both of my TMs were stolen off my boat(12' fiberglass V). I had a MN 46# Endura and an ancient MN 27#. The 46# had a Kipawa prop too. I usually park my boat inside my fence, but the past couple of nights, I have left it in my driveway next to the house. I have learned my lesson; even in a nice, quiet, well lighted community, anything can happen. Odd thing is that they left both batteries. I only want to get one motor now and think a MN Endura 40# would be plenty for pushing my little boat around. Does anyone have any experience using the 40 as primary proplusion on a 12'-14' boat. I will end up getting either another Kipawa prop or maybe a MN Power Prop. Thanks from Frank
  19. Thanks for the heads up, I have been thinking about a 682 or 683 for awhile.
  20. Congratulations on the new life in your life. My girls are the best fishing partners I have ever had.
  21. Accidents happen, even to experienced gun owners. Have you ever gotten stuck with a fish hook?
  22. I read the Dissents from the other four and that is exactly what they were saying. They, like others, use the militia comment to justify their postition, noting that the National Guard is now the militia(wrong). The National Guard is a paid military group under the command of the Governor of the State and the President of the United States. The militia that is referred to in the Second Amendment, is that volunteer militia that helped win our freedom from the King of England by using their own hunting rifles and shotguns that the British tried to ban and confiscate. It is simply dumbfounding to me that these Justices(and much of Congress) are so ignorant of history. One of the first actions that all dictators have initiated when they come to power, is to disarm the people; King George III, Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, Castro, Pol Pot, Amin, the list goes on. It has always amazed me that the entire "separation of church and state" is based on a letter by Thomas Jefferson and is not in any official US document for the era. Yet, when it comes to the Second Amendment, the anti's fail to read or they simply ignore the many writings of the Founding Fathers that refer to the ownership of arms(like Zell's Washington quote).
  23. Email is usually the way these stories get passed around. The first time I ever got it, the Mr. Rogers story said that he was Marine Sniper with 150 confirmed kills in Vietnam and helped train GySgt Carlos Hathcock. Another friend sent me a later version that included the Navy Seal Rogers twist. When I refuted it, he tried to convince me that the TV show and such were his cover, because Seals never reveal their true identities. ;D
  24. The story about Lee Marvin is partially true. He was a decorated WWII Pacific Theater Marine, but the decoration was a Purple Heart. There is no record of him serving at Iwo Jima either. Bob Keeshan was a Marine, but never served at Iwo Jima, never experienced combat, and never was awarded the Navy Cross. The Mr. Rogers story is almost completely false. Fred Rogers was never in the military. He graduated in 1951 from Rollins College in Florida with a degree in music. He had a career in broadcasting for over 50 years. He did earn a Divinity degree and was ordained in 1962, though. These Urban Legends surface so often that people take them as fact, usually because they have heard them before.
  25. You know how you removed the left sideplate and pushed or pulled the individual brakes on and off with the Revo S. Well on the Tour Edition, that is done with the dial on the left, each click will be one brake added.
