Blowups behind my frog
I thought that, too, but the distance between the frog and blowup seems too great. The bass would just have to be myopic to be missing by that distance. But maybe they are.

Waning Interest?
My interest in fishing waxes and wanes. I think its natural. The way I fight waning interest is to not get too serious about it. I don't fish tournaments. I fish how I want. And I fish when I want. If I feel like putting out at 10:00 AM and stopping at 3:00 PM, then I do it. If I feel like trying something new, I do. If I feel like putting the rods down and cruising the lake, or beaching and going exploring, then I do. Occassionally I leave the bass rigs at home and go bluegill fishing, or catfishing. The moment fishing feels like work, I start to lose interest.

Blowups behind my frog
I went out for a few hours this evening and was throwing toads over grass. In maybe 5 or 6 occassions, I got huge blowups a foot or more behind my frog. I got a few weak hits on the frog itself. But the best action was in the wake behind the frog. All I can figure is that the bass were blowing up on something that was following or stirred up by the frog. Anyone ever seen this before?

Chickahominy Lake vs. Chichahominy River
They rent small jon boats with 5 or 6 hp outboards. They also rent trolling motors. Most guys will rent one of these and put on the front of the boat and steer it by hand. Some of the biggest fish that ever came out of that lake were caught by guys in beat-up old rental boats.

Chickahominy Lake vs. Chichahominy River
I caught a Ribbon Snake swimming in 55 degree water last fall. I caught a 6+ foot Black Rat Snake swimming across the lake a couple of years ago. And you really can't make a trip out there in the later spring or summer without seeing a water snake or two swimming among the weeds. But the snakes never bother you. The only time I've ever come into physical contact with them is if I tried. There are no venomous snakes (regularly) in Chick Lake or Chick River.

Beginner Baitcasting Reel?
Wrong move, IMO. If you are going to bass fish seriously, you are going to get into baitcasting. And you are going to like it. DO NOT buy a cheap reel "just to see if you like it." You will never like a "cheap" reel, and it will never show you how well a good baitcaster will perform. I recommend that if you want to get into baitcasting (and you obviously do), get yourself a good reel right-off-the-bat, learn to use it, and it will be the beginning of a collection you can remain proud of down the road. Stick with a major manufacturer - Daiwa, Abu Garcia, Shimano, Quantum or Pflueger. Don't buy their low end reel to save a buck. They all make good reels, and they all make crap. IMO, budget $120-$170 to get into class of reels that will serve you well for many years.

18', 400lb Pet Python
Why anyone would keep that as a pet is beyond me. Probably feeding it goats and dogs. Hate to say it since I love snakes, but I'd euthanize it and cut it up and feed it to the local alligators.

Re: Couldn't pass this up
Nice reel. But we really need to get you talking about bass fishing.

SOL or FUEGO
I have two of both. I use the Sol for shaky heads, light plastics, light cranks and topwaters. The Sol will outcast the Fuego with light baits. The Fuego casts great with heavier baits. With medium diving cranks and heavier plastic applications, or where long casting is necessary, the Fuego is better. The Fuego is a joy to fish with. They both palm great and have equal drags.

Tohatsu Motor
Tohatsu makes new Merc engines from 9.9 down. Over 9.9 up to, I think, 40, are made by Yamaha. Over that and they are made by Merc. This according to a Merc service rep I talked to.

Pistol Advice
You forgot, they are also one of the most robustly built guns sold today. The P90 is built for a steady diet of +P ammo. I remember back in the '80s when the US Army was looking for a new 9mm. The P85 entered the competition too late to be considered, but Ruger submitted "torture test" results. One of the tests was to plug the barrel and fire a round. In the P85, the round hit the plug and stopped. No substantial damage to the gun.

I saw a SALTWATER CROCODILE in the indian river today!!! (while wade fishing!)
American crocodiles are not as aggressive as Esturine Crocodiles found in Australia and Asia. There are no recorded attcks by an American croc on a human in the US. They also don't get as large as Esturine Crocs. American crocs are endangered and enjoy full protection in the US. They seem to be doing well in south Florida and have been caught in Tampa Bay. However, they probably won't move much more north than that since they are far less cold-tolerant than alligators.

Greentop now carrying Jackall
Sam, sorry to hear it. I'll be going out here shortly. Either Chick Lake or Morris Creek. Dan, Hookers carries Jackall and Megabass. But their Jackall stuff is almost gone and he never seems to get anything new in. He's had the same stock for a year now. I stop in every so often and his stock of megabass and Jackall is dwindling.

Greentop now carrying Jackall
I saw regular Mikeys. No Jrs or Srs. I may have missed them but I don't think so. IIRC, the prices were pretty decent on the Mikeys - $24.99 - which is about $5 less than other places. They also had Girons, and all the lipped and lipless cranks and jerkbaits. In colors I haven't seen, yet. They also had the Ninja swimbait.
