  1. I am thinking of going up to Lake Sunapee for an overnight Friday and was looking for any info I could get on the lake. Is it worth the 90 mile drive from central Mass or is there another place that would be better for Large Mouths.. I would like to stay about 2 hours from central Mass as I live just about 30 minutes east of I-91 and about 10 miles south of the NH border. Thanks for any info
  2. I am curious as to where your going and when in May you are going?? I take it your pulling a boat?
  3. Your probably right on that. It looks like I will be staying just south of Burlington and putting in at Shelburne bay. I plan on coming out of the bay and heading south and working the eastern shoreline. I am planning on starting down by Cedar beach and working to shoreline from there south..
  4. Thanks and can you enlighten me, what is a bucket head? I am only looking for LMB I really have no concern for smallies
  5. Thanks for the info. I think I want to be more around Burlington though, as I am taking my wife and that way she has things she can do while I am fishing!!
  6. I am heading to Champlain late next week, though not for the tournament, and could use all the info and help I can get. Everything from licensing to what to use and where to go, IE north end south, east west. Also any info on where to stay, if possible I would prefer a place with their own ramp and maybe docks to leave it tied up at night. I dont know if they have that there. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. you can also e mail me directly at bluewingjb@comcast.net Thanks Wes
  7. I am heading up there myself though not for the tournament. It will be my first time there, I understand the southeast side is pretty reliable. I am looking for LMB, no need for smallies. I could use and help at all concerning what to use and where to use it along with where to stay. Thanks for any help. You can e mail me directly at bluewingjb@comcast.net One other thing, I will be staying in Vermont so is that where I need to get my license? Will it cover me all over the lake? Thanks
  8. I am thinking about watching the 4th of July Boston fire works from my boat in the Charles. I am trying to find a place where I can put in? Any ideas?? I would prefer to keep it on the brackish side and out of the Salty side... Thanks for any help
  9. Ok so I was looking at my pond maps for Mass and see that Otis Reservoir is 1200+ acres!! Thats a nice size, now how is the fishing there?? Anybody have any info such as what part of the lake and what type of baits?? Its not that far from me but I would like to have as much info as possible before trailering the boat the 80 miles there.. Thanks Wes
  10. Anybody have any tips or info on Lake Congamond in Southwick Mass?? I am going there Sunday morning and would like any info that is available!! Thanks Wes
  11. Well it seems the fish are finally starting to bite!! Now can we all be a little more specific as to where we were?? I have had luck in the island areas at Whitehall reservoir in Hopkinton.. Caught 3 nice ones last Saturday afternoon, temps in the low 80s clear light wind. Black 5" yamasenko with NO weight. Just let it fall then bounce it along the bottom..
  12. Personnally I wouldnt fish there, that lake is nasty dirty!! My boat looked terrible after coming out of that lake! Try Whitehall reservoir!! Its where the pike and 495 intersect!! Nice lake, clean, no skiers and good fishing!
  13. Well tomorrow its going to be in the mid to high 50s and the lake is clear from ice so I am finally getting my new boat in the water and going to try out my new rods and reels!! Hitting a little local pond off RT122 out of Barre!!!
  14. I am in Templeton and hit Wampanoag, also called Camp Collier, a quite a bit though last year wasnt as good as 2007. Another favorite of mine is Whitehall reservoir which is in Hopkinton right where the Pike and 495 cross. I also had some luck in East Brimfield Lake and Long Pond at Rutland State park.. Just outside of Barre on 122.. Also went to Lake Cochituate in Framingham and had some luck though didnt get to fish it as much as I wanted to due engine troubles. I really want to go back there at is has a lot of shoreline thats undeveloped and lots or points and coves. The only problem with it is the angle of the boat ramp, its very steep. The ramp is wide enough to launch 15 boats at the same time but the angle is a little steep though it could be due to the lake being down a little when I was there. Check it out on Google maps and you will see all the coves and points I am talking about.
  15. A little clarification. Ok I have never fished this lake before so I have no idea of where to go or even where things are. Where would be the best place to stay? I will be staying overnight and could use some tips on a place to stay!! Also what kind of baits work well?? Black Yamasenko are one of my go to bait. Are the fish in the shallow or deeper, like crank bait deep. When would be the best time to go?? Spring or Summer?? Thanks for any help!
  16. Ok I am heading up to Champlain in either the spring or summer, havent decided yet, and could use a little info on the lake. I fish mainly for LM but would be willing to fish for the schooling SM..
  17. You should have gone out Sat before the storm got here. I did at a little local place I go to and had a ok day. Caught 2 nice ones and lets 2 others, one really nice around 3-5lbs get away. Had I know the weather was going to hold off getting bad till so late I would have been at Whitehall reservoir as it is a good place to drop a line..
  18. Thanks for the tips. You ever have any luck on the CT river? How about Whitehall reservoir??
  19. I tend not to fish the open areas. Thats one thing I notice up here in Mass is people fish out in the middle, we never do that in Tx unless you are following schooling bass then its a blast. I like the shore lines, downed trees and structure like that. I already printed out the lake map and read the write up. I will probably work the Middle basin the most. Thanks for the tip about the shore line by RT30 and the Pike.. I will probably start with a black 5" yamasenko without a weight and see what that does for me. Maybe switch to a pumkinseed colored lizard.
  20. I just found out about Lake Cochituate last weekend and am going there this Saturday. Can anybody give me any tips or info on this place? North, Middle, or South Basin??? Plastic worns or swimming baits?? Thanks Wes
  21. Yeah I stayed mostly around the islands. I concentrated on places where I saw limbs sticking out of the water and if you can find those where there is some water top vegitation right around the stick ups you should do well. I am thinking about going back this weekend only this time to get there and be in the water by about 4..
  22. Well I got out to Whitehall Saturday evening, got in the water a little late 5:45. Came out of the ramp area and headed to the shore just off to the right after you get in the main area. Worked the shoreline of the little islands and main shoreline. Caught about 10 total with 3 keepers the biggest about 3 1/2 lbs all large mouth. Nice fish, very health. Caught them all in about 3-5 feet of water on a black 5" Yamasenko. Tried white and red spinner baits with no luck, also tried a little orangish swimming bait that runs about 3 feet down with no luck. Saw a few people all working spinners and they had no luck. This is a good lake, I always have luck here. Lots of structure under the surface that you cant see unless your either right on top of it or you have, like I do, polarized sunglasses. I have to say these are a must, you can see fish in the water that you would have never seen otherwise, along with structure and the such. You can get them for about 15 at Walmart.
