I've had two major-heavy rain/high/muddy water experiences in 50 years of bass fishing:one on Lake Champlain and another on a river in MD.here's some ideas:Try to get out of current...go deep into the coves and search for clearer water.Get up on the flooded grasses(or someone's lawn:)...and put on a trick/floating worm in a very bright color and work it!!!Try a white or chartreuse senko under a bobber and pretend your crappie fishing:pull..splash the bobber. while everyone bitched and moaned and stayed in the cabin,I fished andcaught some nice bass and very decent numbers

Catt....never thought of the comparison between deer hunting and bass fishing. There is certainly a strong corelation between deer hunting and fishing The Flats for bonefish and permit. I really like the mental part of both bass fishing and deer hunting... Like trying to figure out what will work under the present or soon to be developing conditions.

Hi:newbie here I fished Marion(first time) last week with a guide just to learn the lake a little. My question:can you recommend a good place or even location to stay on the lake in mid Febuary. I will fish 3 days for bass and if that's too early switch over to crappie Since I'm.retired my dates are flexible this Spring I would rather not trailer my boat from SE PA(600 miles). So I would be interested in renting a boat or finding some forum members who would like to fish for a day or two. I would be willing to pay them for what aboat rental would be...I would just like to meet some forum members from different parts of the US Let me know what you think Thanks Tom

hey blackmax135:if your school won't let a fishig team get started..start one yourself!!.IMO if you get one started and had a few memebers and tounaments(even if small),the local press would pick it up and maybe the school would then try to climb on your back and support you for the good PR..Good luck Tom

i've been retired for 7 years and each year I fish for 3 -4 weeks for trout in the West My real love is smallie fishing,however. Can anyone recommend some lakes or even streams where I can find decent SM fishing in the West during July and August Thanks Tom

If you hardy souls are still bass fishing and are in shallow water using this technique,I have another great alternative using senkos. Put out a cigar shaped float with about 2 ft of line under it and try a senko whack worm or straight. best color green with red flake and any thing brown with red flake try it;it works

Thanks ,Steve.... had already googled "t rig" and the closest thing I could find was "Trig Palen" ;D. honest.. I was reluctant to google "beaver".....my grand son was looking over my shoulder.But "sweet beaver lure" certainly helped me understand the post better

Penny:I've fished it maybe 10 times inthe past 15 years.Usually in JulyI always fish the docks. Try a large floating worm in a bright color.Skip far back under a dock and twitch it back as slow as you can stand it.This techmique is usually good for a couple of large fish. Tom

We would normally hire a guide for a day or two to learn new waters,but unfortunately I'm taking this 7hr trip solo. > Actually,when I added gas,tolls,motel, food ,& launching fees,I almost decided to cancell this trip to Erie So,it's running me about 2x as much as if I had a fishing buddy along to split expenses--- I may take the suggestion and fish Lake Ontario--if that works out to a significant saving and fsih Erie when i have company.

I am a newbie here. Been a lifelong addict to SM Bass Fishing--fished a lot of places over the years,but I never fished Lake Erie. I plan on heading up(7hrs from my house in SE PA) for a week of fishing a week from today. Probably fishing out of Dunkirk or Buffalo Small Boat Harbor This is a solo trip for me since my fishing buddy just got a new job(and a new wife). So he's double whammied..... : Since most of my 20 yrs of SM fishing is on rivers, my question is: What fishing techniques/lures do you suggest I use? What depths/structure do you suggest I start with.? After a few days I should be able to figure things out a bit. After all "even a blind squirrel gathers a few acorns" Thanks for any help

When I lived in NYS and fished the Delaware River just behind my farm,Mepps with a gold blade. I would tie in my own dark brown dyed deer hair with some yellow strands to make it more bushy . This comb would really work much better than any of the other combos I experimented with.
