  1. Nice catch.
  2. Mercer it is, someone could go home with a new PB.
  3. You nailed it Rob, I caught this at Lake Mercer.
  4. I had quite the day today, I hooked a hawg probably 7 to 8 pounds and he spit my crankbait about 25 feet from shore. I figured I lost my chance to get a new PB and I moved down the shoreline a bit and cast out and then it happened I hooked another hawg. I started pulling him in and when I got him to the shore my line snapped. I immediately pulled a Mike Iaconelli and jumped in after him and yanked him out and saved my crankbait. I put him on the scale and was pumped when I saw the weight 6lbs 8ozs. What a great day I just wish I caught the first one to. I am going back to catch him later this week.
  5. Anyone interested in fishing tomorrow? I may put my boat in either on the Potomac or one of the lakes with a ramp. If no interest I may just fish one of the local lakes from the shore.

    I mis-spelled the word, sorry.
  7. Nice hawgs you got there!
  8. to the forum. I launch my boat out of Occoquan, Leesylvania or Pohick, they are all good to launch from.

Take route 123 to Hooes Road or take route 123 to Silverbrook to Hooes Road or take Lorton Road to Silverbrook to Hooes Road. Park in the dirt lot near the d**n. Use crankbaits and rig'ed plastics and should should have some good luck. There is a path all the way around the lake so you can fish from almost any location at the lake with a little bit of effort. Good luck Chai, I hope this helps. I pulled some nice LMBs over 5lbs out of that lake last year and multiple LMBs over 3lbs this year. I might be available to fish Thursday with you at Mercer, I will let you know tomorrow night via a PM.

Chai, Mercer is pretty active right now, you may want to try fishing it with crankbaits and t-rig'ed plastics. I caught three keepers last Saturday, the biggest was 3.75lbs. Ron
  11. Thanks for the report Rob, good to see that Lake Royal is active. Lake Mercer has picked up a lot as well. I caught a 3.5lb, a 3.75lb and a 1.5lb last Saturday.
  12. This is going to be my first time fishing during the spawn. I know right now that the bass are feeding pretty good, they are in a pre spawn mode in this area. You should be able to start pulling in some nice size bass with crankbaits, jerkbaits and t-rigged plastics. The spawn will begin once the waters warm up a bit more, I would imagine that they will begin to spawn in a few weeks. Right now a lot of our lakes are still in the high 40s to low 50s and that is not warm enough for them to begin to spawn. Once they are on the beds you are going to practically have to drop your bait on the bed or run a spinner or buzzbait right above them to get a reaction bite. Bassmaster magazine has a good article on fishing the spawn this month, you should read it.
  13. Snowslider, to the forum. I would love a shot at that lake. I could return the favor and take you out on the Potomac if you like.
  14. Wayne, How about posting some pictures of some of the bass you are catching at Briery. I would love to see some pictures of the hybrid bass down there.
  15. The shad was in the way, I got one hook in the side of it's gill. You can see the small puncture in the picture. I probably should have kept him on the hook and used him as bait.
  16. to the forum, oh yeah that is one nice hawg you got there.
  17. It is high but so is Leesylvania State Park, they are $13 unless you buy a pass for the year.
  18. Thanks guys, I threw three different lipless crankbaits to catch those fish. I was doing countdowns from 5 to 10 seconds to cover a depth of between 5 and 10 feet of water. I lost what I believe could have been a new PB but I could not confirm it because he came off about 15 feet away from me. I just know he fought really hard and my rod (BPS Tourney Special 7' MH) bent over pretty hard trying to wrestle him in. I also know this lake holds some nice hawgs because I caught my two biggest lmbs (5.5lbs & 5.25lbs) in it last year throwing crankbaits.
  19. Sam, Thanks for providing the info, I may have to try launching down there one weekend.
  20. Temps have been in the high 40s and low 50s lately. I do not believe that there is a public boat launch in Aquia. How are you putting your boat in there?
  21. Custom made senkos, impregnated with salt and garlic.
  22. I catch a lot of lmbs on different versions of the trap. I like the blue/crome, black/crome, red and fire tiger. I aslo have had good luck with my bluegill trap. I caught three nice lmbs on traps today.
  23. Here is the bait that hit a crankbait.
  24. Her is the 3.75 LMB
