  2. I was regretting not buying a bass boat (Nitro, Ranger or Tracker) with a nice size outboard. Now I am glad I bought my 16 foot Lowe V-Hull with a 25hp outboard I can make 5 gallons last a few weeks where we fish on the Potomac. I can only imagine how much I would have been spending if I bought what I had really wanted. It kind of funny how thigs work out.
  3. Nice catch Rich, congrats on the new PB. I would guess that fish is aroud 4 to 5 lbs. It is time for you to invest in a good scale, they are only around 20 to 30 dollars.
  4. Good luck out there tomorrow, I would like to fish there but I have to work tomorrow morning. You may want to throw some topwater baits early morning as the topwater bite has turned on. The big fish are relating to the stumps early morning and late evening.
  5. I hate those snakes as well. Sorry to hear that you guys didn't have good luck.
  6. Jay I had a blast today, next time we are going to fish the high tide and get a heavier limit (5 fish). I can hardly wait for the next trip.
  7. JCrzy4Bass and I launched at Leesylvania at 8:45 AM, unfortunately high tide was at 6:13 AM so we missed the best window of time for fishing. However we did put five fish in the live well so it was a good day of fishing. We also missed a few when setting the hook. JCrzy4Bass will be posting the pictures and the details of the trip. Jay I had a blast and I can hardly wait for our next trip. To bad you forgot to remind me about the sunblock, needless to say we got quite the sunburn today.
  8. Vekol, great update on the Potomac, you nailed it right on the head. Fishing tidals waters is not an easy task, it can take a while to figure them out. I find the best time to fish is starting about an hour before the high tide and until a couple hours after the high tide.
  9. I agree they are fussy right now. I think top water and plastics are the way to fish this lake right now. Buzzbaits can land you some nice fish you just have to patient and wait for the strikes.
  10. Did anyone catch any LMBs tonight?
  11. Andrew we are Launching around 8:00 AM and staying out until 4:00PM. You didn't hijack the thread, this was my thread about fishing tomorrow some how it turned into a thread about fishing Mercer tonight.
  12. Strike King Red Eyed Shad, I caught my PB on it and lost one even bigger.
  13. It looks like some of the guys are headed out to Lake Mercer. Pack your topwater baits and head over there and fish the back end near the stumps. You also want to fish the shade if the sun is high in the sky.
  14. I have got the trolling motor battery charging and I am getting excited for our first trip of the year on the Potomac River. I have a good feeling that our honey hole is going to be hot tomorrow. I just need to purchase my yearly pass when we get to Leesylvania and then we will be set for the year as far as launching on the Potomac. I also want to set a new PB. The forecast looks sweet for tomorrow temps in the high 70s and winds around 3 or 4 mph. Jay remind me to pack the sun block.
  15. Trevor, We caught lmbs in the stump field area near the deeper water. I would suggest fishing the shaded spots that you can find as that is where they were biting while the sun was high. If the sun is still bright I would park at the dam and walk down the left hand side of the lake and follow the path around to the back edge of the stump field. They were hitting bait fish top water and I saw a huge explosion. The lmb looked to be bigger than the one my friend caught last night. You might want to give top water baits a shot based on what I was seeing last night with the bass hiting bait fish topwater. Let me know how you guys do. Ron
  16. I have been catching them all over the lake. Yesterday my friend caught his 4lb lmb near the stumps in the back on the right. Near the Deerlee Court entrance. Once again, good luck guys, I hope someone catches a hawg.
  17. Good luck guys I hope someone catches a hawg.
  18. The Potomac it is, we will cruise to our honey hole and catch some nice bass.
  19. Anyone from NOVA interested in fishing this Friday? I want to get a whole day of fishing in, starting early morning. Ron
  20. Yes we were back near the stumps. Mercer is producing some good size hawgs this spring. I don't know of any other NOVA lake that is as productive as Mercer is right now.
  21. I took a friend of mine to Mercer today and he caught a 4lb hawg. He had never fished at Mercer before, needless to say he really likes this lake now.
  22. I took my friend Paul to Mercer this afternoon. I only caught a dink but he landed four lmbs, 2 dinks a 1.5lb and this nice 4lb lmb. This was my friends first time fishing here.
  23. I have been catching them on crankbaits and rigged platics. I have also been catching them on both sides of the lake. I try to fish areas that others don't walk to and fish.
  24. NitroMan, My son and I have had good luck at a few places launching out of Leesylvania State Park. I would be more than glad to go out with you and show you some spots to fish. I have caught decent limits of fish in short periods of time (two hours). Send me a PM if you interested. Ron
