  1. Here is the 3.5lb LMB
  2. I had a good day fishing at Lake Mercer considering the fact that the wind was gusting at about 20MPH and the water is only in the high 40's. I caught three LMBs (1 1.5lb, a 3.5lb and a 3.75lb) and bait. I caught all of these using crankbaits this morning. Here is the 1.5lb LMB
  3. Where is Kentucky Lake? I just found it online, man that is a huge lake.
  4. What is up with KVD? He is in 35th place so far this weekend.
  5. Anyone up for a trip out on Burke Lake Sunday morning, weather permitting? Send me a PM if you are interested, I plan on launching my boat around 8:00 AM. My son can't make the trip.
  6. Hey Chai to the forum, the same offer is out there for you. If you or Paul are interested send me a PM with your number and I will call when I have a seat available. Ron
  7. I am in on this trip, I need to catch a good size smallie.
  8. To the forum. There is a lot of good fishing in the Northern Virginia area. Like my son (JCrzy4Bass) said we have an open seat available sometimes in my boat let me know if you want to go out with us one day. Ron
  9. Good job again Jay, looks like I might have a problem keeping up with you this year. Nice LMBs
  10. Possum, Welcome to the forum and thanks for the updates. I fished Briery last year and only came away with one 2.5lb lmb and that was in the spill water pond. Oh yeah nice hawg in that avatar.
  11. Your welcome, I enjoy fishing with you and Jay we always have a good time.
  12. Once again congrats on the new PB, you deserved it after what we went through on this trip. Hopefully I will catch something on this lake next time out.
  13. My son and I are going to fish Lake Anna tomorrow, we are launching at Dukes Creek Marina. Any advice from members who fish this lake and consistanly catch fish would be appreciated. I figure we will be fishing the mouths of the creeks as the water temperature is in the low 50s (52 right now). The reports indicate that there are big bass to be had is we fishing crankbaits, jerkbaits and rigged plastics and that we should be looking to find the bass in about 12 feet of water. Does all this sound correct? Thanks for any information that you can provide. Ron
  14. We launched the boat here today and fished the lake for about 6 hours. The boat ramp here is very steep and the design of the dock is kind of messed up. They have a set of stairs coming out next to the boat dock which can make it tough to get your boat back on the trailer unless you drive it on. The water temperature was in the mid 40's, the wind was gusting at about 25mph. We boated 7 lmbs (JCrzy4Bass boated 6, I got 1), all were under a pound and a half. We still had a good time and I will most likely try this lake again in the summer. The one thing that was agravating is some kids that works at the park came up to us and told us that we have to wear our life jackets to fish this lake. We had them in the boat but it was not good enough for him.
  15. Burke Lake is a nice lake but it sees a lot of pressure. In other words it is fished by a lot of people all the time, the bass have most likely seen every lure made. It is a tough lake to fish but it is a nice place to take the kids out on the water. You will probably have better luck catching bass at either Fountainhead Regional Park or Lake Ridge Regional Park , they both offer jon boat rentals as well. Check out the links below. http://www.pwcparks.org/Recreation/LakeRidgePark/Marina/tabid/159/Default.aspx http://www.nvrpa.org/parks/fountainhead/
  16. This lake is a very pressured lake. The fish have most likely seen every lure made to date. On the weekends this lake usually has a large volume of boaters on it. Think outside the box when you fish there, in other words be creative with your presentations. Good luck and let us know how you do.
  17. Tin, Just take some time off from the tourny thing and get back to basics, just fish for fun. The enjoyment of catching will come back once you eliminate the stress of tourney fishing for a while.
  18. Has anyone fished this lake? If so, what is the lake like? Does it have a good launch area and boat dock? Have the fish been biting there? If so what types of baits have you had luck with? I am guessing crankbaits and rigged plastics for deep water fishing. Has anyone pulled and LMBs of size out of this lake? I am trying to decide if I want to launch my boat there tomorrow or just rent a jon boat and trolling motor.
  19. Strike King Premiere double buzz.
  20. I have caught my largeset LMBs using the rattle shad bait from BPS. The blue and chrome and black and chrome have been the best producers. I have caught 2 LMBs over 5lbs using these crankbaits. http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SceneSevenDisplay?catalogId=10001&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=-90539&scene7Path=BassPro%2f98303%3flayer%3dcomp%26wid%3d500%26hei%3d500%26fmt%3djpeg%26qlt%3d100%2c0%26op_sharpen%3d0%26resMode%3dtrilin%26op_usm%3d0.5%2c1.0%2c0.0%2c0%26iccEmbed%3d0&sourceName=images2%2f98000%2f98303.jpg&type=0&linkEnabled=false
  21. I anchor my boat use heavier baits and keep my rod tip down after I cast.
  22. Jay, The temps are supposed to be hovering around 60 degress down lake where we will be.
  23. Nice fish, it certainly looks like a good Friday to me.
  24. Thanks Charlie, I look forward to meeting you at your meeting in April when I join your club. Ron
  25. Welcome to the forum uglystikangler. I am from Northern Virginia as well. There are many good palces to fish in Northern Virginia. Lake Huntsman, Lake Mercer, Burke Lake, the Occoquan resevior and the Potomac river just to name a few. The bass are biting crankbaits pretty good right now but the fish should becoming more aggresive as we move into a pre-spawn mode soon (couple of weeks). You can also go to the VDGIF website (google: VDGIF) to get information on fishing in Virginia. Make sure you check the Southeast Region section of the forum on a regular basis, there are a lot of great guys that can help you out that are always posting information.
